I trim my lantana into bushes every couple of months so it stays under control. The trimming keeps them blooming year round. My question is what does everyone use to control the worms and caterpillars. I think they are moth caterpillars, not butterflies. They say to spray the entire leaves including the underside but that isn't possible for me because they are trimmed into small bushes. I have tried neem oil but would like to hear what everyone else uses to control this buggers. I am not opposed to insecticides. I do not have lacewings.

Yes, we have been pulling out the seedlings & weeds but they seem contained in that corner area. I have to pull out weeds in other areas of the yard as well. I don’t mind too much. Your statement is true. And yes we had a lot of fruit this year. We tried different recipes. ☺️

Question, I have planted Lantana this spring and it’s grown beautifully. Question I live in NYC. We get a cold winter as low as 32 degrees. Will the lantana come back in the spring. Should I cover them up for the winter ? Thanks for this video.

It really depends on the cultivar that you planted. Some of them go down to 0F, some to 27F etc. If you can remember the name of the cultivar, you can Google by searching the cold hardiness. The great thing is that if they are perennial, you don’t have to worry about them being invasive. 😉

The key to pressure washing a wood fence or deck is only use an electric with no higher than 3000 psi. Pine wood is cheap but spend your money on cedar fencing. Will last a lot longer. As far as the staining, Behr is garbage. Always go with Thompsons water Seal. I'm going to use your method of using the heavy duty sprayer with the All mix & the 30 second cleaner. Pool cleaners tend to have more harmful chemicals than salt that will kill grass as well as almost all plants. I've been a landscaper for 36 years. Cover all your plants and grass areas with cloth or plastic tarps. Great video & hello from Seattle!

Gosh I wish I could. The indoor patio was built with the house by the home builder and … yes it is the most magical place at home 🪄I would definitely research that possibility. I’ve had a covered porch without the screen also but here in coastal Georgia we need the protection from the gnats. I loved both of the covered porches so much. I won’t buy a home without one. To your dream, go for it!!!

@homeandlifewithcynthia
@homeandlifewithcynthia Ай бұрын
I’ve only purchased an autumn cherry tree from fast growing trees online but I searched for holly trees and didn’t see the eaglestons there either. One way would be to call local nurseries and ask if their distributors have eaglestons available on special order. Otherwise, I would google and call around. I’m sorry I couldn’t give you a more straightforward answer, but hope this helps in your search.

I have a big bright brass chandelier I want to keep gold, but still make it look aged. Do you recommend this product for that? I don't mind if it's imperfect because it will be hanging very high up on our ceiling. Do you recommend this product?
@homeandlifewithcynthia
@homeandlifewithcynthia Ай бұрын
It might work for that because it isn’t going to be touched regularly. Is there any way to test on something similar just so you can see the actual results. But if it’s brass - it will probably help you tone it down to a more preferred look. The product is good. I do recommend it, but I highly recommend testing first.

I have a huge Chinese pistache in my front yard. Planted sixty years ago by the city. It's the female and I have a big flower bed around it. Mostly are succulents and other drought tolerant plants. Planted them 7 years ago and they are very lush. The tree doesn't seem to be bothered by them at all. Also I want to add that the young leaves of the Chinese pistache are edible. My mom likes to pick the young ones to eat in her Asian dishes.

Great video, thank you! A couple of questions I have: Did you have to use the wire brush on all 3 fixtures, or only on the one you painted? And did you have to sand it after using the wire brush? I was hoping to only use primer on the chrome vanity fixtures that I plan on buying (because the perfect lights only come in chrome🙄😖), but it sounds like sanding is also required and maybe also a wire brush…?
@homeandlifewithcynthia
@homeandlifewithcynthia Ай бұрын
Hi there! Yes I scuffed with the wire brush for all 3. However, It depends on the look you are happy with. If you want a more realistic metal look then the way I did mine is better but the primer does hold up well. If I had to do it all over again, I would find an old chrome piece that I wouldn’t mind damaging and test on that first with the primer and see if I liked the look. If you do, you could save yourself time and a lot of work. Hope this helps.

How far should I space spruce trees for privacy and a windbreak.
@homeandlifewithcynthia
@homeandlifewithcynthia Ай бұрын
I’m not a spruce expert but consider the size at maturity for both width at the bottom and if they’ll touch up at the top. I’ve seen spruce trees staggered in 2 rows for maximum privacy and to ensure they do have ample space to grow. It depends on the spruce variety. They look beautiful staggered and trees end up really healthy. I urge you to research that. ☺️

Any notes on “SW White Sesame”? Seems neutral w/beige undertones? Need whole interior…lots of natural light, 1st floor is light-colored tile with SLIGHT gray and beige tone, 2nd floor is wood laminate in a neutral tone (not yellow). Any thoughts?
@homeandlifewithcynthia
@homeandlifewithcynthia 2 ай бұрын
I don’t have that color in my swatch at home but from what I read it’s a beautiful color. The beauty of natural light is that many colors will work. I saw white sesame has definite red undertones which means it is warm for sure. It should help the home feel cozy. The lighter version would be marshmallow and the darker version would be something like Beachcomber. I once had a realtor tell me that an amazing selling color is City Loft. City Loft has the slightest more yellow and green undertones making it a wink more “neutral”. In comparison to City Loft, White Sesame has a tad more orange tone. City Loft is a great side by side comparison. The light reflectance value of White Sesame is 71.28 which means you’ll still get great light. It’s an off-white but should still have good body, meaning it will read like a color, not like a white. My biggest tip is to take a couple of white cardboard sheets and buy sample paint from SW for $10. Paint those cardboards and place them in light areas and dark areas throughout the house. This will be of huge help and save you tons of headache in the future. Pay attention to shadows or color changes as daylight changes. When you paint a whole house, it’s inevitable that the color will vary from room to room. It sounds like a lovely choice. I also think you need to lay the cardboard next to fixed items like flooring and countertops and large furniture. Remember that the light bulbs you choose will also matter so test that. Hope this helps. Best to you on your project!
