If he has wisdom, why is he homeless? I may not be wise, but smart enough to retire comfortably and live in my paid for home. I'm part Hawaiian from a poor family, but knew what I had to do to live a comfortable life. Education is key and left Hawaii in 1953 to better myself.

Taxpayers don’t like to help homeless because they don’t get anything in return out of it . There are countless homeless who fall through the cracks in life in society because of substance abuse mental illness just to name a few … you can’t help a person who doesn’t know how to help themselves because you’ll end up to be a caregiver to them until the end of your life or theirs 🤷♂️

Very sad. All the quailfications and no chance. It might be that he's on the island. He might have to work in the hotel business or leave the island for the mainland. Staying on the street limits his options, and he seems locked into his fate.

Locked into is a good way to put it. Most people I talk to on the street seem locked into their way of living. As any of us would be. Some express a want for a better life, while some others don’t.
