I was taught the bottom left to top right. That’s how I learned, I won’t do it any differently, it messes me up when I do.
@DesignAndAdorn19 күн бұрын
Bottom-left up, top-right down is exactly the same as top-right down, bottom-left up. It won't make any difference in your braid with or without a counted pattern. In fact, if you were braiding on a marudai you'd do both moves simultaneously.

Holy cow Rebecca and Richard… were did you find those Marudai extra long legs??? I love how tall that makes it… amazing
@DesignAndAdorn2 ай бұрын
Once upon a time, we had a guy here in Tucson making marudai for us. He's retired now, but if you have a Braider's Hand marudai you can probably find a local woodworker to make longer legs for you. Just show them the hardware.

Rebecca, this is a great tutorial, even for experienced peyote stitchers. Starting a peyote project is difficult at times, but I learned how to keep my first two rows from accidentally twisting. Thanks!

Rebecca, what is the key to keeping my weighted bobbins from tangling and, in some cases, from unwinding? Thanks!
@DesignAndAdorn6 ай бұрын
Hi Eileen! If your bobbins are tangling, then they are too long. I keep mine very close to the disk. Maybe just an inch or two below. As for unwinding, that's a factor of the age of the bobbins, the weight of the beads, and the thickness of the stringing material. To keep your bobbins in good working order as long as possible, never drag beads under the lip of the bobbin. Always open the bobbin to release more beads. If you're working with beads on Superlon Micro, try to keep some of the beads inside the bobbin rather that having them all above the bobbin. Lastly, tie your warp cord to the bobbin using a slip knot. That way, if in does unwind, the bobbin wont fall to the ground and you won't lose any beads. Happy braiding! Rebecca :)
