I shoot and carry M&Ps, and I’m a lefty. The standard slide stop on my full size broke, and it just happened to be on the right side. I don’t use a slide stop during reloads, so it messes with people who think it’s a “slide release”

John, I know Smith and Wesson refers to it only as a "bolt catch", but what do you think would happen if the two "dog ear" catches were bent out about 35 degrees so they could be actually pushed down by your fingers as a "bolt release"? Just something that occurred to me when I tried to use them with my fingers/thumb. Enjoy your videos! Your work is better than any 10 owners manuals...

First, Thank you! I tried to bend a set a while ago, the metal is extremely hard to bend. I decided it wasn't worth it, I don't use it as a release anyways.

Thank you for this. It saved me about an hour long trip back to the gun store. Even though I reset it like you showed when I tried to put the slide in it was still getting hung up a little bit so I had to use a screwdriver to press the trigger down a little further, and then the slide went right in. From my understanding the trigger mechanism is slightly different because when you look up after market triggers for example the apex they do state that the poly trigger does not work on the metal. I could have misread I was doing the research for the competitor.

I have the MMP 2.0 metal tungsten non-competitor version with a 4.25 inch barrel. I dressed it up a bit to be more like a competition gun. I ordered the competitor magwell from Smith & Wesson. They also sent me two of the backstrap mounting tools to fit the competitor and a bunch of the extended Magwell bases to work with the competitor I’m still waiting for the extended magazine release The only thing that they charged me for was the Maxwell itself, which turned out to be less expensive than the aftermarket ones and probably fit better I personally can’t tell the difference between the triggers of the metal and the competitor. They feel exactly the same to me.

Another question. I've had my FPC for 2 days, and I have the Vortex Crossfire Red Dot on the way from the S&W free rebate. I didn't want to wait for it to arrive to shoot it. I ordered some low cost Iron sights, but they were too low, so I put them on 1 inch rail risers. They are the right height now, but for some reason with the adjustments for windage and elevation at the limits, it still shoots 8 inches diagonally low and right at 7 yards, and won't adjust any further. Are you aware of a set of iron sights that work on this carbine? If I can't find any, I am looking at budget red dots until mine arrives. Thanks for the help, your videos have been very educational on this weapon.

I use Magpul MBUS sights and they work just fine. The cheaper sights are usually junk.
@Starkman313 күн бұрын
Went to the range today and figured out my problem. Tried to put a set of loaner Magpul MBUS Pro sights on my 1 inch risers, but they wouldn't fit because my cheap risers are 22mm instead of the Mil-Spec 20mm. Put my original sights on without the risers, and they zeroed fine. Just waiting on a precision set of risers and I'll be set. Probably more info than you needed, but thanks for the assistance!

Good to hear you have quite a few rounds through it. I'm hesitant due to the all polymer construction, but the reality for me is I won't be shooting it as much as you. Plus, S&W has a lifetime warranty so there's that. I'm looking for a range, truck, home defense, teach the grandkids how to shoot gun. I really like the Ruger PC Carbine, but my pistols are all M&P's and the mag interchangeably with the Response is enticing. Any thoughts?
@hollowpointdefense17 күн бұрын
I have been using this rifle a lot to see what wear I get on the poly components. I have virtually none. The versatility of the magwell I like a lot. I own 99% M&P, I like the option of using M&P mags in it. I use the Glock option only for now. My daughter likes the gun and uses it a lot. It would fit what you are looking for, for the truck gun part, you would probably be better with the FPC, but the Response wouldn't be a bad choice either.
