Can you elaborate on the reason why moisturiser or a drop of water would end bad please? Thank you. Ps I'm completely new to melting leads.

What pound braid have you got spooled on those Krakens? I was able to get 650' of 80lb on the two I bought, but I'm debating on going smaller to get more line on for deeper drops. I don't want to go too small for that type fishing.

I am really going to try and buy one - it’s dropping so I am hopeful but if it drops and I add it to cart and it’s gone in 3 seconds I will never buy one. I refuse to chase drops - I don’t buy Hinderer, I don’t buy great eastern cutlery, I don’t buy 3 rivers - I have so many Microtech’s because if you want a knife, simply keep the website open and refresh and in short order it will come back in stock at your favorite retailer - I have been able to buy every one I want - Combat Troodon, Cypher, Hera, Ultratech, Stitch, MSI etc… The new Ultratech has a smaller glass breaker and I believe it will be removable - I know the Troodon and Hera and Cypher have much smaller glass breakers - a ball mounted in a titanium end piece - they still work but you don’t feel them - so there’s hope (I don’t mind the breakers). I hope Axial doesn’t drop a handful only and waste me time in a futile effort - if they do I’m out forever lol! I will report back my thoughts for sure! I am just so happy to be in a state PA - that finally made autos legal (thank you knife rights) - I never realized how awesome OTF’s are compared to folders at least for me!

Same here. I carried cheap chinese for years here before VA made them legal. Once they did, I let myself get a couple nice ones. I still carry the Lightning fishing saltwater and it keeps impressing me as to how well it's holding up in that harsh environment.

I am thrilled that Axial is about to do a drop - can’t wait to get one. I don’t think any OTF competes with Microtech now that the Ultratech and other models have a slew of upgrades - the dual fuel system with slick deployment, the Titanium pocket clip with silicone carbide ball and the big one, zero blade play. That said, I will absolutely grab an Axial!
@scottnra
@scottnra 5 күн бұрын
@DavidV4444 yeah I like the Axial. I still have a problem with the sound of the one I have sounding "springy". (damn thing sounds like a trampoline spring is in there) Makes me a little hesitant to buy another right now as a $200 knife shouldn't sound worse than an $30 Chinese one. The Ultratech would be my favorite if not for that stupid glass breaker. I really HATE that thing. Who the hell really needs that? it just sticks out and grabs the back of your hand when you reach into your pocket for anything else. Personally, I'll never buy another knife with one. So far after having 6 OTF's my very favorite overall is a $30 Chinese Lightning for performance and ease of carry. It looks like crap on the outside after a few years of carrying it. Paint worn off on the handle. But the D2 steel blade is holding up. It fires great and sounds great and holds and edge fairly well under my everyday use. I may buy another American OTF at some point but for both of these there has been a little disappointment overall for over $500 spent. If you get a new Axial, Let me know how it performs and sounds. @scottnra
@scottnra 5 күн бұрын
as good as any others @TheGuyATX. I've got quite a few from other grill over the years and the only ones I've ever had fail were from getting the probe end wet washing them. Just wiping them down and even using a scotch bright pad on them is fine just be careful not to get the end that the cable goes into really wet as water can wick up in there and mess them up. @nateb1685
@nateb1685 17 күн бұрын
This is a complete guess here so don't quote me on this, but i'd imagine with a lot of things in life, the initial investment is quite a bit more than anyone would think reasonable in the short term but I know people that have been making their own sinkers and hooks for their whole life and i'm sure over that time span they've saved quite a bit of money. I imagine the molds and the paint and the material in the beginning is pretty expensive but the more you make the more it pays off and there's also a market out there for home made stuff. You could totally sell what you make.
@emmanueldedovets5960
@emmanueldedovets5960 17 күн бұрын
If you fish alot it's ALOT cheaper. I reload ammo and this setup is cheap to get into. A mold will cost around 50 and then a lee lead productiin pot for around 100. After that just do research into how to cast lead and your golden... to save even more money it's possible to just buy the mold and use a outdoor propane stove and a regular steel pot to melt the lead outdoors ONLY!unless you have a fume system) you can even make your own molds with rtv silicone on the cheap and copy any jig kinda like how they make copy's of keys with clay in movies.
@emmanueldedovets5960
@emmanueldedovets5960 17 күн бұрын
Finally you can powder coat the jigs if you wanted, it's not necessary but if you wanted a bag of powder coat is like 12-15 dollers and you can do simple shake and bake method
@emmanueldedovets5960
@emmanueldedovets5960 17 күн бұрын
Use sawdust as a "flux agent" to remove any impurities and any candlewax as a "reducant" that will help lead be shiny and come out of mold easier.... wax is very "flammable"so be careful and don't add more then a tiny pea sized peice at a time
@emmanueldedovets5960
@emmanueldedovets5960 17 күн бұрын
Use pure lead for soft metal jigs and weights. If you want a harder tougher lead but slightly less weight you can add small amounts of tin and water qunch it, it will slowly soften back before qunch hardness over 6 months, you can also add antimony to the mix and skip qunching and the hardness if forever. It's alot more confusing and brainy then I ever imagined and I'm learning myself, it's all part of the adventure, you can test the leads hardness by buying a pack of art drawing pencils because the numbers on the pencils are how hard it is and if your pencils scratch the lead then you know it's hardness.

I added 2 Tablespoons of Lowery's seasoned salt to it. I was asked for your recipe by everyone at the bbq I hosted for our local bike chapter of BACA....... good thing I have a printer scanner.
