There are some fantastic pellet foods that I have used over the years including Spectrum that I have fed all my fish. I used an autofeeder for long trips loader with these pellets and fed lightly. I also had a neighbor friend who I could depend on for any problems. A blue tooth camera also would work along with the autofeeder if the Lazer Reefer family does not want anyone in their space while they are gone. 😊

@@cozyaquariumccthen again a good fast is healthy for both fish and humans. Luckily us lazy reefers don’t depend on anyone to feed us for two weeks less we die of starvation. 😂

I didn't use auto feeder this time. I thought we would be away only for one week but the trip got extended. So basically the fish just hang in there for two weeks.

Thanks. I Always appreciate your videos and knowledge. I’m setting up a big saltwater display tank for our new house construction in Hua Hin. A few questions: 1. Approximately how often do you change the water on your reef tank? 2. How much money do you spend on salt mix per month? 3. I’m seriously thinking of using seawater directly from the Gulf, since the beach is 15 mins away, making sure I’m not around any municipalities. This would be a big cost savings. Do you think this is safe? 4. I might have missed it, but if you guys can show and discuss your actual tank and setup, dimensions, lights, and filtration system sometime, that would be fantastic. 5. There are a few reefers on KZbin with established tanks that brag about no water changes, that they just top off their tanks for evaporation. Are they telling the truth?
@cozyaquariumcc8 күн бұрын
Thanks a lot for your support. I think I got many new video ideas from your comments. I will try my best to answer your question from my perspective. In the end, many reef questions have no correct answer; they are just opinions. 1. I change 25% every month. 2. The salt is cheap if I only change it once a month. I remember I bought a 10 kg bucket of salt for about 100 USD. It's already one year, and I still have almost half. 3. taking water directly from the gulf is definitely an idea worth trying. I always wanted to do it but never got the location. I think the risk lies in the bacteria infections. Other than that, I think it is a better water source than RO+salt. 4. I will try to discuss a bit in detail in the coming videos. Thanks for the heads up. 5. I think a no-water-exchange reef tank is feasible. It depends on how demanding your reef animals are and how much equipment you use. I believe no water exchange is possible if one tank has almost no fish but only corals, with a dosing system. But if there are many fish and the corals also look amazing, I can only say it takes a lot of talent to run a no-water-exchange tank like that.

bleach is safe to clean filter socks, just rinse thoroughly. It breaks down into salt.
@cozyaquariumcc8 күн бұрын
I think chlorine can stay in water for long time. In indoor fish farming. People use bleach too. But before we put fish in, we either check residual chlorine, or use some sodium sulfite to neutralize it. Animals are sensitive to chlorine. Better be careful.

One of the cleanest store I’ve ever seen. Perhaps more pricy but they have all the latest including Red Sea systems. Etc. they also have some beautiful terrariums. Hope you guys are doing well. !

Yes. It is in JJ market, Chatuchak area. We didn't notice a high-tech store inside JJ Mall. We will check it out next time. You have a good day, too:)

I agreed but wouldn't not add corals instead add macroalage and lots of it and 2 damsels you can cycle the tank with macroalage so as you know macroalage absorb alot of ammonia and nitrate phosphate in water colom this and it also will keep nuisance algae at bay

Great videos. I'm trying to get into the hobby but I'm lazy. (efficient?) Would you consider making a video for noobies that lists the species of fish, coral, anemones, etc. that would be best for a lazy reef? Ex: 2 clownfish per ?? liters of saltwater

Great idea. I can't say the number will be 100% sure cuz every tank is a little bit different. But I can make a list based on my lazy experience.

Mine is similar, but I pump in and siphon out at the same time. I pump into the sump and take out near the bottom of the sand. This way my water change is done in 5 mins and I don't have to turn anything off.

A clever move👍 I assume your sand has bigger particles. One reason I don't do bottom siphoning is because my sand is easily sucked away.

Good video my friend. My water changes are definitely not as easy as yours. I do lots of siphoning, scrub, and pick at rocks to remove algae and aiptasia. My corals don’t seem to mind me just dumping 5 gallon buckets strait in but the pumping method is a lot easier. Beautiful tank

Good advises. it's also possible to keep a mixed reef with a lot of SPS by changing water only once a month. Nutrient export balanced with nutrient consumption is the key. Dosing is also necessary for keeping SPS.

Wow so awesome Tufan. So you are managing aquaculture farms in Thailand? Thailand loves their Sea Bass, one of the main farmed fish. Let me ask you. In the USA my grocery store is ALDIs (a German based company). The following seafood they supply comes from China: Flounder, Tilapia, Cod, Salmon, Shrimp, and Scallops. I know the freshwater seafood is no doubt aqua cultured, but what about the saltwater seafood? In your opinion are these foods safe to eat? I would imagine there is some kind of quality control in China, although some of my Chinese friends said “ not always” 😮.
@cozyaquariumcc3 ай бұрын
Thank you for your support. At present, more than 95% of the seafood products from China in the international market are farmed. Especially flounder, tilapia, shrimp, scallops and salmon. In fact, in all farming processes, there will be something that the public doesn't like. Before go to market, the authorities will run some checks, and if they break the rules, they will be punished. But is there some untested aqua products end up in supermarkets? I believe there is. However, the products used for export are subject to border inspection from both countries, and all exporters will avoid being investigated in the port of the other country and be returned. So, I think in general, China's export seafood is fine. There are far more dangerous things in the world than seafood :) :) :)

BTW I'm not directly managing a farm. I'm doing some technical work relate to farmed animal's health.

I would advise sucking the infection out rather than blowing it around the tank. You can then use a hydrogen peroxide dip to kill off the remaining infection. Also those corals are not sinularia but either lobophytum or sarcophytum. Very nice collection though :)

100% you can be a lazy reefer!!! Before I moved, I had a 6x2x45 with 4x1x1 sump and I didn't do a water change for over a year! Nitrates sat at 5, Phosphates sat at barely detectable with Hannah test kit. All I did was use an auto topoff for freshwater and an auto doser for trace elements. The sump had 4 large marine pure cubes, Skimmer and synthetic wool for mechanical filtration.
