@@LivinLifeontheR5 Yepper, it’s a well built gun with a ton of configuration options at a great price point. They also offer a military discount which always a privilege to have. @@LivinLifeontheR5 Thank you for the kind words. I’m still getting used to talking on camera and get to rambling at times but I’m having fun and that’s all that matters😂. I’m keeping the format simple with most of my focus being on build quality vs shooting performance. I do this because of how expensive these guns are and want to inform folks on how much energy and time goes into these builds. I also do this because I find most YT reviewers just give the cliff notes and generalize their opinions about a gun and I simply want more information. @@LivinLifeontheR5 I love all aspects of it as well and love chatting about guns. I'm working hard on my shooting skills for speed/accuracy here lately because I see my skills are are lacking compared to the competition shooters. My biggest issue is there's no USPSA events in my local area so I can't really see I stack up but I've watched enough guys shoot to know I'm above average. However, I keep pushing myself to go faster and focus on my fundamentals to keep getting better. As far as the YT channel goes, I'm trying to do things differently than other folks in a couple ways. 1) I don't do this for money and will say prices and trigger pulls weights because I don't need money from doing YT. I won't be able to bring as many reviews because of this but what I do review will be very informative. 2) I typically do a 3 video review format: First impressions, the review itself, and then I break the gun all the way down and step through each component part. 3) I grade each sample on its own merits and report the news. This way folks can pick out certain areas for their use case when thinking of buying a 2011. 4) I'm no expert and will admit when I'm wrong. My wife loves this about me 😁 I will also acknowledge when my opinions change as a result of new information or an experience. Once again just trying to be me as the kids say...lol

I have a couple Staccato's that are still pretty tight and others that aren't. So again YMMV. You still didn't answer my Prodigy ejector question? What say you on tuning the tip?

@ I still think a steel P or Heritage P19 LE (if you can find 1) is a better buy than the JC Black. The smooth gripped JC isn’t even a consideration for me. 1 of my training partners works for Vance’s outdoors. A JC dealer.. They have several of each model in stock at multiple locations here in Ohio. I have had several in my hands and shot both. I have done Altas ignition kit (EGW was out of stock as usual), pin kit, colt sear spring, trigger job, and wide ambi safeties in the original version for a buddy that bought 1 used from Aim Surplus. I think he snagged it for 1800 ish.. I actually found the Alpha Foxtrot Romulus to be a better fit pistol which is half the price. The grip obviously is sup par compared to the JC black.. what prodigy ejector question? If I had seen a prodigy ejector question I would have answered it. The ejector in my prodigy (bought used) wasn’t tuned. Someone did a good job installing it but didn’t tune the tip.. I cheated and compared it to a staccato 😂. Matched the length to my Heritage P19. Then loaded a mag with dummies and marked the top round. Shaped to bottom of the ejector so that the top round and mag didn’t hit it while using the staccato as a guide.. However none of that really means anything if the chamber is to tight. Many prodigies need their chambers reemed and finished. My 5” did. My 4.25” did not.

I’ve heard good things so far on the AF Romulus as well. I’m on a buying freeze until my Hayes gets in. 😢 I love collecting 2011s. So what isn’t good for you maybe is good for someone else. I find some folks are negative people and want to crap on these companies when they feel a way about a gun without any experience with shooting it or handling it. However, I do understand your thoughts because I shot a RC9 and was like yeah not for me😂 I want to grade each gun on its own merits and report the news. That way people can make an informed decision whether to buy or pass. Hopefully JG will hear me and others feedback and continue making changes to refine thier guns. I critique my guns in a way others won’t because I focus on the technical aspect that others don’t know how or simply won’t spend the time going down the rabbit hole. I spent my military career being serious and now retired I just want to have fun and shoot some guns brother 😂Now on to your assistance, I broke my ejector on my Prodigy and want to replace it myself. I see some folks say tune the tip aka file some material off and others say no filing needed. What’s been your experience?

@ at no time was I attempting to crap on any company or try to somehow be “negative”. You mention being “technical”.. I am technical. Data and facts. Someone being upset over that is their problem.. Being “technical” is what I do for a living. Manufacturing quality control process and improvement via automation.. Figuring out ways to get tighter machining tolerances AND more parts out the door. Cutting exotic metals like TI, Inconel, Stellite, Hastelloy… The last week of my life has been spent trying to revive a 650 model Okuma that cooked is main CPU (UCMB)board.. those that attempt to claim I am being “negative” are those typically trying to BS people. Way to many “guntubers” out here telling people what to buy that poses 0 mechanical understanding let alone any real armors experience. Like G. Lusk from Watchtower. I show the issues with my Apache and my conversations with him about said issues (I was told they’d swap my grip for free but I couldn’t tell anyone) and now I am somehow personally attacking him 😂 I haven’t even begun. I have a number of videos that I haven’t dropped yet. Like one showing where staccato changed their frames on their full size guns like the XC. They no longer accept Atlas/MBX mags yet staccato reps are all over social media claiming nothing changed. You can’t do anything about it either as they won’t test their guns with said mags. Only Staccato mags. I haven’t seen much in the form of greatness with the Romulus. My prediction is quality will actually go down to get more guns out the door. But we will see. I should have a few to fool with after the first of the year..

@@PnP-td1mt I can promise, I'm not upset at you or any other person who doesn't see things my way. I also never said you were negative (I'm on Reddit 🤣) but I will say your very critical which can come off as negative but you back it up with facts and I respect that. I also back up my thoughts with real world experience and facts and sometimes we won't see eye-to-eye and that's okay. I'm no gunsmith but have a solid foundation from a technical perspective on how these guns should be at each price point hence all my categories. I think I'm the only guy on YT that takes their guns fully apart and walks through each component part of the gun for what it's worth. I'm not sure some of the big guntubers know how to even do that piece but will give a high-level overview to sell a gun. They also won't do it because they won't monetize their videos through partnership program. I have it on pretty good authority that some gun guntubers make as much as $15K for a review (I believe the kids call this schilling 🤣) I have a very important and demanding job that pays me very well and I just do this stuff has a hobby because I just love guns and more guns 😎 I hope you can see , I love to learn new things and chat about these guns. I'm also willing to admit when I'm wrong if I misspeak. I think you should do more reviews other than you shooting shorts because you could bring real value to the 2011 space. We need more technical folks like yourself giving their thoughts so these companies can step up their game. I was curious what 2011s do you like since you don't seem impressed by a whole lot?🤣🤣

Doubt I'll ever reach this level of DS 1911's but I sure will try. Great review here with loads of information with transparency is fairly rare. I can't tell you how many reviews that wouldn't say anything wrong about their pistol. Your sub count will skyrocket with informational videos like this, thanks for sharing!

Thank you for your kind words. My goal is do things differently than other gun reviewers. I don’t do these reviews to make money because I have a job…lol I like take all my guns apart and show you what you get in your build as well. I’m blessed to have a be able to buy these guns and I know some folks can only afford one gun. So, I want to bring facts and real world experience vs some guy giving their opinion. This way folks like you can make an informed decision to see if the gun is right for your use case. My other goal is to assist companies to give honest feedback so they can improve their product line without any negativity. I moved to a grading system for his reason to articulate the true differences between these 2011s. Thanks for watching.

@claymac2011 heck yeah I like it, sounds like a good goal! Helping others learn the right way is the best way, there's a lot of misinformation and many of a reviewer who gets paid off eventually. Giving criticism to a company product can be beneficial if they have any QC to speak of. But doing it in a way that they find inviting is probably the tricky part. 😎🤟👊

For 2500 bucks, MIM is a hard pass. For 700 less the platypus would eat it… opinion of course!

I have a Platty it’s a great gun. I own a lot of 2011s brother…lol I’m just reporting the news on MIM parts but I can change them out for a $130 EGW kit vs spending $600 to upgrade to metal grip. I’m trying to give folks perspective. Thanks for the feedback.

Then why are watching 2011 reviews...lol You might want to educate yourself on the platform because these guns take a lot of man hours and materials to make than a striker fired pistol and most rifles setups. I would love to but I'm on a buying freeze until my Hayes Customs comes in the next few months. I buy 99.9% of my guns outside of the Kustomworx Defender that's on loan to me. If you ask my wife pretty please and she says "Yes" I'm all in on a review. 😁
