Rod/reel combo with fishing kit as an emergency setup kzbin.infoUgkxntWMOZsO1Zfv-pdn_XuffEtNkTYAYu4Z recommend but started to use this every day. The rod is thick and seems durable. I keep it neatly tucked into a regular backpack all the time with my fishing gear, and can grab it anytime, put it on my back and go anywhere. I just read in another review that the rod length below the reel is adjustable as well, so I will try that too for even more portability. Probably the best setup I've ever owned. I lost the cap for the eyelets, but no big deal since I still have the black cloth sheath that came for the pole and I use that. Very portable and high quality.

Took my brand new Battle II 5000 for a spin yesterday for the very first time and I hooked a 20lb yellowtail using a Ugly Stik X2 (medium hard) rod kzbin.infoUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . This combo was recommended on some website and it did not disappoint me. The reel is smooth, the drag click is pretty cool cause i think it adds to the excitement of fighting the fish, personally the drag is my favorite part. I use braid and 300 yards will fill the entire spool. This combo is my main setup from now on although I have to disclose I am new to fishing.

Don't agree with this but to each their own. Appropriate grease and oil is cheap. Super cheap. I know this is old but super lube is ridiculous. A PTFE product on gears makes no sense. I'd be pissed if I paid someone to service my reel and it had super lube and 3 and 1 oil in it. I'd expect my money back.

These transfercases are filthy. They only have a fill plug, and half a quart capacity. The fluid gets really grey. 75w140 I did this job today. You don't have to remove the frame. Unbolt driveshaft from center support and transfer. Remove exhaust, from where the center support is to the flanges of both cat converters its one pipe. Remove the passenger side axle, lower control arm nut(24m) and tie rod nut from the hub(21m). remove the exhaust manifold (6 nuts). Theres 2 brackets to remove on that bolt to the transfer. One bracket is transfer to the block, the other is two bolts that connect transfer to mount on frame. Then unbolt the transfer from tranny (6 bolts). You fish it out from where the passeneger axle was.

That Super Lube grease is great on gears but, in my experience, it is not good for shafts, bushings or bearings due to it is thick and can make reels seem somewhat sluggish when applied in the wrong places.
@chipyeahoo2 жыл бұрын
I have been using it and initially thought I’d found “the one” but it seems to become too thin fairly quickly and I’ve found it won’t stick to the gears like greases specifically designed for fishing reels. I think I’m going to simply go to the good old industry standard Penn blue grease. It stays more tacky and was designed specifically for fishing reels. It’s a little messy compared to Super Lube but it stays put on gears, shafts and such much better for longer and is still thin enough to allow for smooth, fairly effortless operation of reels.
@JeffSmith-eq3kc Жыл бұрын
@@chipyeahoo yeah I'd actually be pretty upset if someone who serviced my reels used super lube. It's a PTFE product and doesn't have the staying power needed in my opinion. It's also super quick to get thin and it just adds to the lack of adherence to metal surfaces. I use two greases these days. I use Penn blue grease on most of my reels and I use corrosion x on my surf reels and offshore spinning reels. If I know there's going to be heavy salt spray and mist I'll use Corrosion X. You can buy a standard cylinder of it for 16-17 dollars. Enough grease to last a lifetime with reels but if you're a boater it's a game changer regarding wear from saltwater.

I saw that all of the people that replace the PTU and the rear axle oil, they use 75-140 synthetic oil. But the manual say that you need to use 80w90. Which one is the one that you need to use in a Ford Explorer 2012 3.5 V6?
@mk350912 жыл бұрын
My Ford dealer just changed my fluid and switched to 75-140 on my 2015 Ford Explorer even though my manual says 80w90. 1-5-2022

Did you re-use the subframe bolts or did you have to purchase new ones?
@yarleumas3 жыл бұрын
Please don’t do all of this. Once you remove the dog bone on the bottom of the engine, uses a jack to tilt the engine forward about 2.5 inches. That will give you plenty of room to remove the cat, and the PTU.
@MrHandsOn2 жыл бұрын
Don't forget its way easier if you take the cat out in the rear. 4 bolts and a 02 plug for about a foot of extra room.

On the one I’m replacing now, my friend was complaining about a propane type smell for quite a while but we could never figure out what it was. Then his wife called and said she heard a loud bang and there was a puddle of something underneath. It looked like metallic gray paint dripping from the transfer case. Apparently the propane type smell was gear oil saturated with metal shavings from the transfer case dripping on the hot exhaust. There’s a nice hole in the side of the transfer case now…And yeah, you do not have to remove the sub frame

Wow, what a job! These Ford PTU's will always fail as they are of a poor design. The 5.5 and 5.7 6Cyl. engins have another major flaw. The internal water pump will fail. The first one generally fails while under warranty. The next time you will pay about $2,200 for a fix. Wanna save gas, why by a SUV? The Ford's are ticking time bombs. You should have removed the vent cap to the new PTU with a 3-Ft. hose so you can use it as a fill tube when you have to change the fluid every 30,000 miles. You would have also put in a drain plug to drain out the old oil. Knowing this, why buy a Ford AWD as they all have the same problem? Whats more, thay have the woesy headlight in the industry, according the National Insurance Agency. Ya, the Projection lamps are very poor. Most police Explorers will have to use auxiliary lighting. The Police PTO's on the Taurus and Explorer have a water jacket to help cool the oil in the PTO's, and they also have issues but not as high as those without coolers. Unless you are looking to pay big bucks, stay away from any Ford AWD vehicle. Good Luck.

If that amount of disassembly is normal for that vehicle, then it looks like $2400 well spent, to me. Take out the $700 new xfer case and that is easy $1700 worth of expertise and workshop equipment. I'd leave that one to the experts.
