If I have an IPAP of 18 and EPAP of 12, does it mean that I have to exhale with "force" against the remaining EPAP of 12? Sounds high for exhalation or am I wrong? Thank you.

IPAP is for upper pressure, i.e.for inhalation EPAP is for lower pressure, i.e.for exhalation For Inhalation effort required whereas for exhalation less or no effect required (as it is relaxing stat) so that IPAP required more pressure. Vice of Versa. If u understand that the exhalation is not required pressure but why we set it. A small amount of pressure prevents the trachea (inhalation exhalation tube) from collapse due to negative pressure. Generally EPAP is between 4 to 6. After every exhalation there is a small amount of pressure pressure in trichina and lungs (EPAP represent this pressure) I hope your doubt is clear. These readings help monitor the efficiency and safety of the dialysis treatment. Conceptually, AV pressure readings indicate the pressure gradient across the AV access site during dialysis. This gradient is crucial because it determines the flow rate of blood through the dialysis machine, ensuring that an adequate amount of blood is processed to remove waste products and excess fluid from the body. Practically, AV pressure readings are obtained using pressure sensors integrated into the dialysis machine or through handheld pressure monitoring devices. During dialysis, healthcare providers regularly monitor these readings to ensure that the pressure remains within safe and optimal ranges. Elevated pressures may indicate problems such as clotting, stenosis (narrowing), or other issues with the AV access, while low pressures may suggest inadequate blood flow or hypotension.
