Purgatory is the satisfaction for the temporal debts of sin according to the RC church.

It's actually interesting that these theological distinctions are actually present in Israel of Jesus time in the Saducees and the Pharisees - the extremes, but nonetheless a reminder of the existance of such impulses (same could be said about the Essenes(ascetism) and the Zealots(militancy))

The adoption quip was something like "Your brother could die tomorrow. Make sure to call him today to tell him he's ugly and adopted." It was a joke about how brotherly love manifests

You’ll know when the millennium has come and Satan has been completely* bound when the church comes completely out of Rome- sabbath breaking, trinitarianism, divine name changing, uncircumcision.

May God bless and keep this Canadian family. While I have spent much time in Bulgaria supporting the infant Lutheran church there, our adoption of a sibling group of four was out of Ukraine. All aspects of doing this are extremely difficult. Just trust that as God has placed tbis in your heart, he will give the wisdom to see you through each day.

The discussion regarding adoption was very helpful. My late parents adopted three boys and three girls as newborns and young children. I can’t imagine our lives without these wonderful people. God be praised for these blessings which now include grandchildren as well.

God bless those who practice adoption. And God bless those who lend themselves out to help others who do adopt, like my wife and daughter, who do a babysitting night for foster parents so Mom & Dad can reconnect while somebody watches their kids.

Psalms 92:1-5 KJV 1 It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High: 2 To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night, 3 Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp with a solemn sound. 4 For thou, LORD, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands. 5 O LORD, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep.

There is hundred of religions and everyone thinks they are right. Some little, some pretty big deals. I love the fact that you push theology. Love that. We the people, or parishioners, or just Believers are not theologans in the sense we have PhDs in biblical studies or Semitic Languages or OT liturature. We believe what makes sense to us, many times presented or taught to us by someone w more advanced education. We chose a sheppherd. How do we know they're right? Ultimately we choose what to believe regardless of the topic, partially because it seems to make sense, partly our gut, our preconceived biases. We ask the HS for help & wisdom. Best we can do. And no matter what thrilling concept I finally get- my attitude and behavior can simultaneously suck. Yah. The Fruit. This is why I dont go to any church anymore. Add politics & a fellow worshipper wearing a MAGA hat and I'm OUT. Add a (yes) a militia IN THE CHURCH. No thanks. "Patriotic Sunday"!- No Way. Outside of Jesus I owe allegiance to no one or no thing. Don't get me wrong, I believe that I lack certain elements of worshiping with others& being in a community. I know that, but for right now this is where I'm at, and I look at things that are the most important and that is an acceptance of Jesus Christ and what he's done and nothing I do is going to add to that or make what he did any better getting hung up o.n theology. I listen to books ans sermans and lecture, podcasts online to learn. Take some college courses here and there to understand scripture. It's always been a problem for me and I almost insist/demand (ugh) that the creator to explain everything to me, so I understand it to my satisfaction that's not what He wants, and I believe the HS has told me such, and his ways are not mine and a lot of what I insist on knowing I have to accept that right now he has chosen not to make certain things crystal clear to me. Creating the earth or an eyeball or the huan genome is enough for me to feel very very limited. All religions are weird because man has his hand in it- try as we might to get things right. Letting go of being right- thats like searching for the holy grail. Best to you Pastor. Videos are great. Shalom

I’m think it matters to see cause and affect in the scriptures and with that we can parallel some of our own outcomes in life. An example would be seeing the way David failed as a father. And when we see our own children falling away and going their own way, some of the aspects in their falling away comes from watching us act poorly when it comes to trusting God ourselves. This creates a deeper repentance though has been often labeled pietism.

No tradition or movement is above criticism, but y'all are wrong to say that Pentecostalism and Charismaticism isn't of God. Most important thing to consider is the evangelistic fruit. The Pentecostal / Charismatic movement is the fastest growing Christian movement ever by far. It has and is bringing millions of foks to repent, be baptized, have Holy Communion and worship Jesus. That there is enough. In accordance with the words of Christ, the kingdoms of God and Satan are not divided, this is the work of God and not another. To say otherwise is to go against the words of Christ and His mission to save as many as possible. How well do non-charismatic Lutherans do in evangelism? I'm ask a real question because I don't know.

I dont think you interpret everything in a an ancient text as literal. The science is kind of irrefutable and I believe we can believe both- I used to believe in Young Earth Creation. You can believe science AND scripture. I used to think I had to choose. Evolutionary Creation (EC) is a Christian position on origins. It takes the Bible seriously as the inspired and authoritative word of God, and it takes science seriously as a way of understanding the world God has made. EC includes two basic ideas. First, that God created all things, including human beings in his own image. Second, that evolution is the best scientific explanation we currently have for the diversity and similarities of all life on Earth.

It seems that you have a presupposition that the Christian church of non-Lutherans are looking for a “secret revelation from God” as to His will for our lives. You, Bryan, assume that we non-Lutherans disagree with you. But we don’t! simply asking for wisdom from God for our futures like you say: from God’s word, Christian friends etc. we aren’t asking for a lightening bolt from heaven as you assume of us silly non-Lutherans. We are simply asking for His wisdom for next steps. Maybe your message would be better received from non-Lutherans if you didn’t make such gross assumptions.

So many long time institutions are grasping at relevance within the broad spectrum of ways to think. During the time my grandmother was on this earth, 1886 - 1984 she saw and described this very phenomena within the ALC and the WLC. In this century we see the same trying to take hold in the LCMS. Thanks be to God for lifting up Church Leaders like Dr. Schultz and Pastor Wolfmueller. Hold on, gentlemen, our fingers are stretching as we pass through the current modernist sludge.

Baptism being God’s work and not mans, was what convinced me that mode is not important. And I always found it odd, how my baptist brothers will belabor on mode being crucial for a baptism to be correct, and then to say: but it is only a symbol and does nothing for us. Anyhow, I just discovered this channel and I will be tuning in often.

Fun thought experiment. But our sins are not just covered byt fully washed away. I doubt there is a session of preliminary accusation with Jesus to the rescue. Scripture suggests the redemption is preemptive.

There are no Sacraments apart from the Word. That being said, however, it is legitimate to ask, "Do the Sacraments save?" I am convinced that the Sacraments are present to serve those who have been called into a relationship with Christ. I am convinced that the Sacraments do not replace a relationship with Christ. Rather they must enhance and support that relationship.
