Something to be said about ‘misheard lyrics’ is that, when arguing the ‘inner voice’ structure, we can refer to ‘beast monster thing’, where will states once again (bc it truly is something overstated throughout his discography) that he “co-write[s] [his] songs with [himself]”. So yeah, you’re definitely onto something here!

this analysis gets very well to what i got from the album, which is awesome. god it just really just gets me. every single one of us who went through intense codependent young love will listen to this album and go "nobody on earth relates more to this shit than me" and we are all correct

What an incredible analysis of this album. I'm currently going through so many of these emotions, and I can't relate more to these songs. I'm obsessed, and this video makes me hope I can look back to this obsession and look back on my teenage years. Live Laugh Will Toledo

i had a full on breakdown like 10 mins prior to finding this video. i loved it (the video); everything is explained so so so so well and you did an amazing job at presenting the songs while maintaining the disastrous heartbreak that this album entails and also the messiness of it all.. amazing video, you have a calming voice. hugs i love ur conent.

This video is fucking amazing but just one criticism. I would suggest you use a teleprompter or something of the sort while reading your script to not read the same line twice by accident. Otherwise, I'm totally impressed by this

I often read a line twice or even three times just to make sure I got a good take, but the issue with this video was I did a all-night crunch to edit it and left a couple of the extra readings in lol.

I wish I saved my breath for this video instead, would've been way more fitting as this is the conclusion to the whole Twin Fantasy storyline. However, I just had to write something down to just say that you beautifully and brilliantly analyzed The Gun Song in such nice detail!! Great job as always! On a side note, I didn't know you were going to re-record your Twin Fantasy and Monomania video, however I'm excited to hear that! Hope that all goes well! (Definitely a bit dated, but the point stands!)

I have a camera now too so I'm planning once I'm finished up with this semester of College to really sit down and record something with way better production value. Possibly just an all-encompassing video for Tf, monomania, and the gun song + the beach trilogy and maybe a couple of other songs relating to the narrative scattered throughout the discography.

I've been getting into CSH recently and I began with Twin Fantasy (Face to Face), and I absolutely loved it. However, while I listened to it for the first time, there were so many lyrics that I didn't really understand, and that's what made me realize that I really wanted to know more about the lyrics themselves because I usually like to understand the lyrics I'm listening to. I also had a feeling that the lyrics, and really, the album as a whole, had a WAY deeper meaning than it was presenting itself on a surface level. I eventually found your video explaining & analyzing Twin Fantasy, so I decided to relisten to Twin Fantasy again to refresh my mind on the album, and as I finished the album, I decided to watch your video. All I can say is that you opened my eyes to Twin Fantasy and made me realize that I missed so much and made me realize that Twin Fantasy as a whole was such a beautifully deep, emotional, yet depressing piece of musical art. I thank you so much for breaking down Twin Fantasy so beautifully and perfectly. I would also love to thank you for encouraging me to listen to Monomania so I could also watch your explanation on that album. It really piqued my interest that the already amazing Twin Fantasy had an actual sequel to it. So, after listening to Monomania for the first time, I then watched your explanation. At first, I didn't really understand too much. So I then decided to give Monomania another listen after a day or two later for a refresher on the album itself. After the second listen, I came back to your analysis on Monomania. You explained and described Monomania in such a beautifully fascinating way, and I sincerely thank you for that. I usually don't go out of my way to write huge paragraphs of text willingly, but I just had to thank you for both videos because they really cleared up things perfectly. Thank you so much. Also, I really liked the edits you did in both videos, such a nice and charming touch! I hope to see more from you eventually, much love :)

though, I think you missed one of the most crucial points of “the gun song”, and in turn, kind of missed the point of the whole title. You always referred to “the gun” as Will killing/ending his relationship. While, neglected to mention when he says “guns are loaded with silver bullets tonight, but it’s useless, you kept me waiting until it was light.” I believe this is the role credits moment of this song, the meaning of the title. The lover was a werewolf, silver bullets are the only thing that could defeat them, but the silver bullets are useless at this point, because it’s already light, and the full moon is already gone
@quoteth
@quoteth 8 ай бұрын
I've always taken that more as Will contextualizing that it's taken him forever to get around to actually ending things. That over and over, he loads his gun with silver bullets, but they manage to keep him hooked on by a thread, just until the morning comes. This could also doubly mean a number of things with the "until it was light" given that I explained that the relationship seemed to only be sexual, being that Will goes to end things but gets wrapped up in a late night hook up, and is satiated until morning. Or it could tie into the Day/Night and Sun/Moon metaphor, being that the night or the moon represents a lie, the falsehood of their relationship that Will clings onto. So he latches onto this as the other person leads him on, but then when the morning comes, and the truth that they are not in love comes, it's already too late and said silver bullets are useless. Could be both as well!!! Either way, the end of the song implies Will finally making the decision to end things with the "I SHOT MY BABY!!" outro, so I think that line was just there to show the listener that Will has been wanting to end things for a long time, but is always unable to, using silver bullets and werewolf mythology as a creative way to show it.
