Its a good thing you dont have a 40hp Merc. I tryed to do mine today. Got the top 2 coil pacs out and replaced the plugs but couldnt get to the last bolt on the bottom pac. @@RFishingtxI did the full service minus the impeller this year but the only thing i couldnt do was that inline fuel filter, i have the 40hp. And that filter lives below the bottom coil pac, with zero clearance. The coils and the mounting rail need to be removed to access it. Only you cant access the bottom bolt on the lower pac, and if you did put it back in , it would be a nightmare, it has standoffs behind it,; that the bolts go through.

I genuinely appreciate this HONEST review. I am in the market for a new tracker and still debating between the Classic XL and the Pro 170. The main reason i am considering the pro over the classic is the rod locker, the fixed larger fuel tank, and the better console. It would only be about $20 more a month on financing and I am thinking it would be worth it. I was going to do the 50hp with carpet.

I’m debating the same thing, I think what does it for me is the better use of floor space on the 170 compared to the xl. Lists of wasted space in front of passenger seat and every video I see people complain of the live well being terrible

@@zach-n4i I ended up getting the XL and am very happy with it. I like more open space in the hull and the removeable gas tank. I can bring an extra if needed. plus there is more working space in the battery compartment. I also got my XL brand new during the year end sale.

Why would you not for the gear oil fill it from the top bolt that was removed? So then you wouldn’t have to quickly reattach the bottom bolt.

You fill from the bottom in order to push the air in there out. If you were to fill from the top, then you wouldn’t get that air out and the lower unit would not be full of oil like it’s supposed to be.

Excellent, detailed review, thanks very much! I am considering either the Pro 170 or the Pro Team 175 TXW for a few $grand more. Just wondering if you considered the 175 TXW, or if due to limited storage space you had to go with the Pro 170? Also, do you feel like the extra beam and other features on the 175 TXW are worth the higher price?
@RFishingtx4 ай бұрын
@kenb6102 Thanks! I do have limited space in the garage so the 175 would be a bit too tight of a fit. If I wasn’t limited on space and the choice was between the 170 and 175, I would rather spend the extra and get the 175. Even if you do the 175 with the tournament package, you’ll still want to upgrade the electronics and trolling motor at the very least.
