I didn't have much of an impression of this music when I first played on launch day, but after listening to it more, figuring out the game's lore, picking up on the motifs... God, what a perfect track. The pumping beat that hypes you up after a long, lax tutorial section would be more than enough. Listen closely though, and you'll notice boss theme motifs from the classic games flipped to a hopeful Major Key (Mostly Sonic 3's final boss theme, but I hear a bit of Ruby Delusions in some sections as well), communicating Robotnik's turn to the heroes' side. A perfect match for a track with absolutely no hazards or deathtraps, just fun and whimsy.

The songs good but the game mode makes me feel broken

Now THIS is how you make a first track. I can't believe how many other racing games start out with the generic "[INSERT CHARACTER HERE] Circuit" and it's literally just a generic race track with nothing interesting. But THIS... This has so much more charm and detail put into it. It's simple but fun, it has that speedy "Sonic"-esqe feel to it, there's even a loop to drive through in one of the shortcuts. It's so creative compared to other kart racers that it genuinely feels like this game tells you, right from the get-go, that this is THE kart racer to top all kart racers. Your move, Nintendo. Let's see if Mario Kart 9 will even hold a candle to this.

honestly speaking after beating all 14 of these i can confidently say that these are the most unnecessarily frustrating and time consuming special stages i have ever had the displeasurable of playing in a sonic game, even after the nerfs 2.2 gave them

This is the final stretch, no more mistakes.* *IT'S CRUNCH TIME.* Now that I've beaten all these stages, here are my thoughts on them: Gallery: Rather than firing one at a time, take your chances to throw 2, 3, or even all 4 Gachaboms at the UFO at once to smash it open with plenty of time to spare. Alley: Above all else, Jawz are your saving grace. Use them when you've got a straight shot or you're in an open area, and this UFO doesn't stand a chance. Steeple: Stay calm and look for your openings. Learning the path the UFO takes can help you to outmaneuver it for an easy opportunity. Rooftops: It all comes down to execution. The stage is quite easy with the right technique - all you need to learn is how to break open that UFO. Roulette: All you need to do to break the UFO is line up 2 Triple Orbinauts, and you're GIVEN those very opportunities. From there, avoid those bumpers and the grand prize is yours. Towers: Don't get caught up chasing the UFO through that labyrinth - Line up that Gardentop just right, and it'll shatter instantly. Take your time and make those jumps. Atlantis: The true final showdown, against the toughest stage yet. Make every single hit you can get in before the water section count, then let that SPB do it's thing. Take it slow, adapt and compromise, and conquer this ultimate challenge.

Nothing can stop me now that I've come this far.* *LET'S DO THIS.* Btw, my thoughts on the initial 7 special stages: Balconies: A simplistic special stage that gets you accustomed to the storms you will soon weather. Church: A few sneaky walls are thrown your way in this one. Memorize and compromise. Courtyard: Even if you're hit, there's plenty of time to recover. Don't lose hope and win against the odds. Villa: Everything has a time and place. Just don't go too fast, or you may find that the UFO will end up smashing you instead. Venice: Play your cards right, and you can shatter the UFO in one decisive Ballhog blast. From there, keep up your speed along the water and victory is yours. Spikes: With constant interruptions from a dangerous hazard, the chances you get to deal damage are few and far between. Make every hit count. Fountain: One "last" showdown, but if you know what to look for, you'll take home this cyan star in no time at all.
