they are actually fun and challenging to be honest, the only one that is actually bull is steeple if you dont hit it with the triple orbinaut at the start, stage is just too damn short with few chances to get a hit in after

imo this has to be up there as one of the best sonic special stage variants ever. I'm almost left entranced at how pretty everything is, it distracts me from destroying that claw!

It’s the little details that matter, and I really like how all the chains in the background of these stages shatter when the claw is destroyed.

Mhm, to me it comes across in my mind as when that happens is “with the chains binding you to this realm becoming undone, all that’s left is to grab the key to undo the final lock standing before you and make it out alive” “You are *so* close, just one final push!” And seeing and hearing the chains break adds to it so well. The vibes of the sealed star stages are immaculate.

They really, REALLY need to increase the emerald's size and thus hitbox The amount of times I successfully broke the UFO but could not seem to grab the emerald...

I think it should be just 3 hits and it releases the emerald, now the RNG box has to give you shoes so you can catch it up.

Honestly? The trick is to not drift all that much. Just use your rings semi regularly and you should be able to keep up with it with relative ease

Just remember 2 things 1. There's no hitstun on the claw. Combo away 2. Banana snipes deal the most damage

Nothing can stop me now that I've come this far.* *LET'S DO THIS.* Btw, my thoughts on the initial 7 special stages: Balconies: A simplistic special stage that gets you accustomed to the storms you will soon weather. Church: A few sneaky walls are thrown your way in this one. Memorize and compromise. Courtyard: Even if you're hit, there's plenty of time to recover. Don't lose hope and win against the odds. Villa: Everything has a time and place. Just don't go too fast, or you may find that the UFO will end up smashing you instead. Venice: Play your cards right, and you can shatter the UFO in one decisive Ballhog blast. From there, keep up your speed along the water and victory is yours. Spikes: With constant interruptions from a dangerous hazard, the chances you get to deal damage are few and far between. Make every hit count. Fountain: One "last" showdown, but if you know what to look for, you'll take home this cyan star in no time at all.

honestly speaking after beating all 14 of these i can confidently say that these are the most unnecessarily frustrating and time consuming special stages i have ever had the displeasurable of playing in a sonic game, even after the nerfs 2.2 gave them
