In a small space you should have the door open outwards, It allows you better storage on the wall without the door hitting on the inside

I know these are sprint karts, but i wonder what kind of implications this could have for something like superkarts, since they race on full circuits and likely have enough speed to really gain an advantage in using these 🤔
@Wolemid3 күн бұрын
Superkarts already have a flat floor and a front diffuser. I do agree though, the Aero gains from these products will be greater on SuperKarts than Sprint karts

I remember in the early 1990’s racing the OG layout. That right hander was scary af as you were tanking at great speed. I hit Lewis Hamilton on the OG circuit. He was just a kid, about 7 or 8. Sorry Lewis.

all my years karting (25 years of it) i have never driven any layout but Pylon at Rye, Granted i dont spend much time at Rye so may of missed it before pylon got put in, but i am looking forward to a different layout, hopefully its smoother than Whiltons
@wiscious4 күн бұрын
@ pilon didn’t exist in 1993/4 I’m absolutely sure of it. Also at T1 as you loop round (what’s that called? Lasso lol) there was a WW2 pillbox on the inside - so observers would see you disappear behind the pillbox and reappear into what I should say is T2 right hand before the left hand T3 before the straight leading into the first left hand hair pin. The straight was longer but they use a shorter straight these days (mostly). That hairpin is where I rammed into the side of Lewis Hamilton. :(
@wiscious4 күн бұрын
Might I add - observers would have been on the side of the start finish line which was where the cars and trucks parked in those days. Around the pit entry etc.
@joshjwood475 күн бұрын
In some ways a shame because Pylon was my favourite corner on a track I usually struggled on, but needs must and I think this is a great solution whilst the work is going on - almost reminds me of the hook at LLandow albeit with a very different approach to the corner. 2023 I had my first half decent result at Rye so hopefully I can do that again this year; I definitely preferred the track after it was resurfaced!
@Wolemid5 күн бұрын

Guy got ejected from kart and helmet and visor got some nice road rash . He had to buy a new helmet for next round and they would only let him do finals if he got a new visor . Always used a tinted one but always kept the clear one with me and gave it to him to finish the day . After that always had 2 helmets with me . If needed depending on weather would use the spare so was nice to do finals with a dry / warm helmet !

If it will make the sport safer, then it’s a no brainer. And if contact is that big of a deal, they should reinforce the rules.
@Wolemid29 күн бұрын
100% the rules should be enforced more. But without employing more officials which will raise costs, how?
@sdeane09Ай бұрын
The current solution looks horrible, but i do feel we need to protect drivers. this may even increase participation, esp at the junior level due to the much improved safety. I am less concerned with looks as have always been a substance over style person. If they work then that is one step, we can make them look better later. What we all want in our sport is people getting involved and it to be safe. If this this does the trick then play on. We must actively promote getting kids in as this will bring parents in as well. Safety first with participation, looks and higher weight, worse looks and slightly higher costs are an unfortunate by product, but worth it.

Go old school and bring back no plastics... while we are at it use harder tyres, loose clutches so there is a consequence of spinning/dive bombing plus scrap wet weather tyres and go back to wet kart setup and simply drive to the conditions or watch from the infield..... #makekartinggreatagain #mkga

Hey google. Show me the worst take you've ever seen. Basically ruining people's races for making mistakes, reducing safety, increasing damage and cost of repairs, reducing training for higher categories, and overall making karting less enjoyable and accessible. Terrible idea

Always the way with karting. Pointless things always being sold to someone. There was no need for Plastic rear Bumpers, the metal ones were fine….
@AlexVangeenRacingАй бұрын
@ I don’t agree with metal bumper thing. Firstly they don’t look as good, secondly they are less safe from a connecting pov. And they can snap way easier. I have linked front to rear with two karts this season, both were metal, didn’t happen with any of the plastics. Also I’ll work with someone with a plastic bumper and do drafting, I won’t do it with a metal bumper

Been a dad and full time mechanic for my 9 year old son in Cadet karting I'm not a big fan of some of the looks of these new possible kart design proposals, some look terrible. I agree, I like the current look of the karts, they look like mini f1. I'm all for safety improvements, what's the answer I'm not sure. I would like the karts to look even more like f1 cars personally but obviously on a smaller scale. If a roll bar, roll cage is implemented into the frame then seat harness will definitely have to be introduced.
@HoltAircraftАй бұрын
The advantage I see with the Brazillian bodywork is there is advertizing space, the disadvantage is that aero kills competition because it gives you such a downforce advantage to be in front. Will make the racing more like modern aero era NASCAR (boring crash fests) than old school open wheel racing. My opinion is the less bodywork the better open wheel racing.
@enput4522Ай бұрын
you are taking away the CORE of the sport, Its supposed to be cheap and it its a metal frame with no pods 4 wheels and thats it. i was fine when they introduced the backbumper and sidepods but now with all the aero stuff and inclosement it not iven karting any more, now its just a minicar, NO AERO NO ENCLOSEMENT
@TheCharillz23Ай бұрын
I mean if crashes are the issue just go full cage and belts
@101JuventusFanАй бұрын
I don’t think anything is the solution here. Yes, safety is safety, but any way you look at it is promoting more reckless racing from the minds of the drivers and you’re changing the identity of karting from karts to effectively mini-cars, plus adding an additional expense for any damages you’re going to make. If anyone truly thinks karting is that dangerous, then just go race rental karts, because you don’t see the wheels covered in open wheel racing, and yet they are just fine
