Im interested in why is pencil in that way sharpen? Isnt inaf razor to sharp?
@SKYL001
@SKYL001 17 сағат бұрын
I did sharpen it with a blade yes. The normal way just exhausts the graphite and uses the pencil quickly. If you sharpen it with a razor, you get a longer tip which you can use variable as you switch hand positions. ALSO, holding it like that is pretty neat as you don't have to sharpen it. The tooth of the paper will sharpen it by itself as you draw since you are at an angle probably very 45°. Hope this helps!

What do you think about using the grid method? Sometimes I would sketch the rough outline and sometimes I would just put a blob of colour and start from there. All of these with the grid on.
@SKYL001
@SKYL001 6 күн бұрын
@@bintang4363 it's perfectly normal to use grid methods. I'd say whether you want to have that in your workflow depend upon your personal goals. Grids do take away some effort which could be rather used to develop your observational skills. If you wanna get better at sketching freehand then grids should be avoided. BUT it's definitely NOT cheating to use Grids. Ignore anyone who says so. People ir professional artist's use projectors to trace so the work can be completed faster. As long as it looks good in the end, you are golden 😂

Terrific video and presentation. I kept my attention on that angel because I knew as soon as I looked away that it would get closer and closer 😱. Paying attention to each action and how it contributes to the details and the big picture is something I have to remind myself and practice. This is great advice for artists and really for any hobby or occupation. I’ve worn glasses almost my whole life and, when younger, would remove them and the world looked soft and blurry. I’d draw that and actually got the values more correct than when I could see clearly. I had to learn to mentally change my perception of detail as I’m viewing the reference, which I find extremely difficult and beneficial. Expecting to place a mark on the paper in exactly the correct location, with the perfect value and hue, well, when I think about it that way, seems ridiculous. I see that you draw general values (sometimes specific), blend, erase, and repeat that multiple times to achieve what you want, and that is part of the work and process.
@SKYL001
@SKYL001 27 күн бұрын
Exactly man. You get it! And removing glasses the way you said you do is kinda cool cause that equates to artists squinting to see the average values without taking into account all sorts of details! Thank you for taking the time out to share your thoughts and commenting on my video!!

Everytime i draw the facial features it is always very different from the reference :( Should i practice more on the facial features first ? (I did some practice but i didn't spend that much time onto that ^_^)
@SKYL001
@SKYL001 Ай бұрын
Definitely! Try to study the proportions and the general placement of the features like 1/3rds and then zero in on the elements. But yes! Definitely spend more time. It is a general idea that worked for me. I'm sure you'll find your own blueprint as you start moving forward!

drawing real life art is much different from perspective in my opinion. you can learn how to shade and make a copy but understanding what to ignore and what to keep beyond real life perspective is hard. Drawing real life art and what you perceive is key. it helps developed your skills in a fine-tuned way but learning how to design what's needed to convey your message and the comfort of getting it right. looking at your work not just as a paycheck is hard. It's kind of funny typing that out. Like my whole art adventure was started over bad fivver art I paid for. Later on I tried to sign up to sell my art, and couldn't because they weren't hiring new artists. Life throws you curveballs like that. You know you love something with you have the desire to pick it back up when the world is telling you to put it back down. finding the courage to get back up and do it anyway no matter how many passions you have or what your reason.. that's real drive. be proud!!
