Have you played KOTOR? That is a game that truly redefined Star Wars at a time where all we really had was the OT. It made everyone realize you can tell a great story thousands of years removed from Han, Luke, Leia, Vader etc and really opened the floodgates to expanding the EU. Don’t get me wrong, Force Unleashed was a big hit and probably one of the last decent Star Wars games we got but I’d argue KOTOR had a far bigger impact on Star Wars than FU

I enjoy the force unleashed games the hack and slash games are my go too plus I just think playing as Vader secret apprentice more creative over another Jedi survivor. Me personally I enjoy beating the crap out Vader let’s face it he’s a douche that deserves getting his ass whoops.

And if the 3rd game will be good then it will be the same as Arkham thriology but for Star Wars. Are they perfect? No, nothing is. Are they good? Yes they are.

Yeah i didn't like Acolyte a waste of the High Republic Era complete destroyed any potential that era had they've tarnished it. The books especially Phase 2 i thought were really interesting a shame. I'm still excited for Eclipse but I'm not getting my hopes up, the Jedi Fallen Order/Jedi Survivor games i am excited for. I liked Ahsoka and Kenobi so hope they both get renewed for another season. Mando S3 was utterly bad so S4 or the Movie I'm skeptical on but these are the projects I'm interested in. They need to go ahead with the Rogue Squadron movie and the Lando Series. I'm still playing BF2 2017 so I'm content. Waiting for Jedi 3 and Replaying the older games gonna go replay TFU and Republic Commando. I'm more or less going to EU Content now need to get into the Jedi Apocalypse series, Thrawn Trilogy, Rogue Squadron books and Comics and Dark Disciple. Still got Legacy War to check out and more stuff with The Republic Era jedi so books are going to become my main content for star wars but I'm always going to love the IP i just enjoy some stuff more than the others. Don't care for Skeleton Crew at all its just a version of Goonies in space and i hated Andor as a protagonist supporting characters Carried that show i don't think I'll watch S2. Wake me up for Ahsoka S2, the next Jedi game/big star wars game and the Mando Movie.

I think this might be an age thing, but I remember not liking The Force Unleashed / The Force Unleashed 2 as much as the more grounded entries in things like Dark Forces II / Jedi Outcast / Jedi Academy. I really didn't like TFU2. The thing is, there really haven't been that many more modern Star Wars releases: two Fallen Orders, two Battlefronts, Outlaw and Squadrons. You can throw Lego Star Wars in there, too. If you compare that to the sheer number of games that were being released during and after the Prequels, it sort of pales. So, I'd say you're right in saying Star Wars games don't feel the same -- but I'd argue that it's more a product of the modern gaming landscape and Disney being too cautious with the IP in only giving it out for big, AAA releases. To use a sports analogy, companies are obsessed now with trying to hit a home run every time -- they want the big, highly marketed, blockbuster releases with huge hype machines, when really, they should be more comfortable just hitting singles or doubles, loading the bases and giving people variety. There's always going to be an instinct to blame Disney given the current nature of Star Wars discourse, but I think the blame is shared: it's half just how the gaming industry functions right now with an emphasis on huge costly titles with major marketing campaigns, and half Disney being too selective with game development and not taking chances on the smaller or medium-size games. Part of why the EU was so much better was because it was allowed to be so much worse; you let people throw everything at the wall to see what sticks, and you'll have more abject failures, but you'll also uncover more diamonds. I don't think any Disney series or releases have been as bad as the worst outings in the EU, if you can cut past the kind of delirious online discourse about them, but I don't think anything they've produced has reached the same heights either. They're just too risk-averse, and they're giving the IP to companies which themselves are risk-averse. tl;dr let smaller studios make star wars games again

it's a cool idea for a game "mode", like maybe instead of traditional procedural generation you have a fancy new model generate something for you. Taking anything to extremes is generally going to wind up being unsatisfying.

There's a lot of ripping on AI here but as I've said to many others on the internet, the Artificially Intelligent cat is out of the willfully obsolete bag. AI is only as bad as it will ever be today and will only keep getting better. Eventually, anyone with an idea for a video game will be able to utilize AI to create EXACTLY what they envision. It's just a statement of fact. I get people's hesitance about using CURRENT AI for creating any sort of art at all, but in all honesty, AI is getting extremely good extremely fast. In 2020, the most AI could really do is create some fake pictures. Now, AI is so good that it can basically do almost anything digital, albeit poorly. Given more time and improvement, AI will eventually be far more efficient, cost effective and BETTER at creating things than humans. All of the work is derivative, sure, but you have to remember that humans also base their creativity on things they know, have seen or are inspired by. You are also basing this on "completely AI generated games" and game examples that are using AI-powered procedural generation to create "similar" real-time experience, rather than a game that is generated with AI assets, assembled coherently by a human in 1/10th the time it would take an entire team of developers and then made into a playable, coherent experience. People aren't going to make "completely AI generated" games and if they do, they'll be garbage, don't buy them. But a guy spending 2 hours creating a 3D rock asset to put into the game versus AI splitting out a perfectly acceptable AI generated rock in 3 seconds is far more time and cost-effective. That's what the AI push in games is for. Once companies can make 100% AI generated games, so can individuals.

You know what the best part of this is? The idea of “AI game studios” gave me a horror game idea.

Like Stan Winston once said "- If you don't have talent, don't think that computer will do it for you, it is just a tool", he was talking about CGI in movies, but it fits the AI perfectly.

Nobody is saying AI should be used to create games entirely on its own. That is nonsense. It is a tool that can be used to assist development studios and enhance games. One of the biggest drags in game development is asset creation- creating textures, 3D modeling, landscaping, preparing tilesets, etc. AI could make that process 10x faster. Have AI create these things, and then graphics team can go through them, regenerate what they don't like, make edits to apply their own work and creativity, and then implement them. That is way better than trying to manually create all of these things from scratch. Or, what about scripting? AI models can prepare pages of accurate code within just a few minutes. No human can do that. That means getting preliminary drafts of scripting out in mere minutes for the programming team to review, edit, implement, and test. Not to mention that AI might also be able to review and assist in fixing bugs. AI will even be useful to writing teams and art directors to generate inspiration or ideas for storylines, dialogue, events that could happen, or concept art... and again, that's in just minutes. AI behavior and chat models can even be integrated into a game's NPCs- meaning NPCs could behave much more believably. You could theoretically even have full on conversations with characters in the game using your own voice with a mic (look up the Skyrim AI followers mod to see a rudimentary version of this). AI based development means that significantly smaller teams can potentially create revolutionary games with their shared vision and passion. This is instead of blowing probably millions of dollars just on these enormous headcounts of employees that can't possibly unify and coordinate work effectively. That means studios producing bigger and better games faster and cheaper. Yes- it is, in fact, the future... and it's coming.

AI HAS SO MUCH POTENTIAL. Imagine a infinite amount of randomly generated creative artstyles of already preexisting artist in your fingertips, the creativity is endless. But random tardos see any art generated by AI as good. What AI should be used for is pure creativity and ideas for the artist to draw from, not be used by itself in a vaccum.

Bodycam was made using AI. There is a difference between using 15 year old AI and 5 year old AI when making games. AI isn't the issue. Corporate trying to control AI is the issue. Also not the Counter Strike AI generated game was literally made in 7.2 minutes. The doom game was made in under 2 minutes. The guy who released the AI mine craft game spent 10 minutes on it. If these games had any amount of legit time they would be massively better than regular people programming games. These people who released them took minutes about the time it takes to make a single cup of coffee to literally less time than i takes to make a cup of coffee to make these AI games. You claiming that they are slop is proof of your ignorance and hatred of AI because you literally have no other skills than programming which AI does it better than you in every way. Bodycam is the single most realistic video game ever made and banned in over 200 countries do to how real it looks and people believe that do to how real it looks it tricks the brain into thinking you actually killed someone and in order for the game to even be released the faces had to be blurred. They had to censer faces in order for the game to not be illegal around the world. There is 17 countries which allow the game only with he blurred faces. The game is too realistic according to neuroscientists. The game was 100% made by AI. Programmers let AI cook after giving AI some slight guidance but it was 100% programmed by AI. So yea you and all you other AI hating racists need to stop lying out your asses about AI being garbage because people are realizing the only reason you hate AI with ever fiber of your being is because you haven other skills and if the 1 and only skill you have can be done better in every single way with AI then your existence in the only field you have is gone. Time moves on and no matter how hard you try you will never be as good as AI was 15 years ago and now AI has left that old form in the past where it belonged and is moving on and advancing and that old form was better than you in everyway. Those who try and fight time will get run over by the train of time being left busted and broken. John Henry tried to beat the machine and in some variations he did beat the first of that type of machine's time but that machine only lost because of slight speed issue but turns out the machine had better hammer skills and kept moving while Henry died from over stressing himself and the machine kept running and that machine was replaced with more machines. You are not on the level John Henry to the field you are in and you are getting destroyed by AI in every way. Find a different skill or be forgotten in time right here right now. Your pride in your mediocre garbage skill is your downfall. Pride is a stupid thing to have especially when all you are is a mediocre at best programmer trying to get people to stay using mediocre at best programmers and artists instead of using the actual quality known as AI. Hell AI is so good that the last 7 years the winners of the world greatest artists awards for paintings went 100% to AI. AI won massively. The world's top art experts and richest pallet art collectors gave flawless reviews of flawless skills to just plain beauty and majestic glory of the art and it won with perfect scores. Then it got found out that oh it was AI generated and then a ton of people were pissed and saying its garbage and just stupid but no they gave the art accurate reviews the first time because they didn't know who created it they didn't know if it was created by human or anything else so they gave it accurate reviews and they said it was the greatest works ever and after 7 years they got confirmation that AI created it and they want to call it trash now after giving it the most glowing reviews only because they hate the fact that AI has not only surpassed humans but surpassed them by millenniums worth of skill. If you have no other skills and your skill is being replaced then you have 2 options. Option 1: Get a different skill because amount of get good scrub will help you in beating a thing that has already surpassed you over a decade ago. Option 2: Get run the fuck over by the train of advancement.

AI if used correctly will help speed up development. AI isn't the problem, giant studios with way too much bureaucracy are the problem. "Just hire more devs" is not the solution. That's how you get games that cost hundreds of millions of dollars to make. Chat GPT writes code and other things can generate assets. It's going to be a thing. Asset flips are already a thing. AI will let small indie teams build bigger and AAA studios build faster, assuming those are the only corners they cut, that will be a good thing. You just have to be picky about what you buy, there are going to be scummy developers out there doing with AI what they've always done with Paid Human-crafted assets.
