Hi, please are you able to show how to install the new aap version 2.5 on RHEL9? I have poured through so many videos, but none explictly addresses the changes in the inventory file which is quite confusing. I have also researched redhat doc but I dont see any docs there that addresses the new changes in the 2.5. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!

would be great if aap can be the center of automation and the AIO tool with a git built-in.

Is an automation gateway node and event driven node now required for all 2.5 installs? I am comparing inv files between both, and my 2.4 only has controller, execution, and hub nodes. Looks really awesome though, I am excited!
@AnsibleAutomationАй бұрын
We're glad you're excited - and good catch. The automation gateway node and event-driven node will be required for 2.5 installs in order to get access to the unified UI features highlighted in the video. Information regarding the upgrade path from 2.4 will be published in the coming month. Stay tuned!

I'm considering trying Red Hat AAP after trying AWX. I managed to successfully create a custom execution environment in AWX that just used one or two other collections not found in the default ones, 'microsoft.ad' I think. I think this how I will need to approach the custom EE in Red Hat AAP - sort out a so-called private 'Automation Hub'? I'm finding the Red Hat Documentation hard to piece together, there doesn't seem a slam-dunk document that simply simply shows me how to do the complete A-Z of setting a private automation hub to which I can add my custom EE.

Hi, ad infra.hub_configuration . Is it a typo, or new version of ah_configuration? btw hub_configuration would be a much better name for it...
@AnsibleAutomationАй бұрын
Yes it is changing names, check out this forum post: forum.ansible.com/t/promoting-infra-ah-configuration-to-certified-collection-ansible-ah/8276
@JakubVeverka-v2zАй бұрын
@@AnsibleAutomation well, the collection will have its downstream name ansible.ah, but the infra collection is not being renamed. At least not according to the post you've shared. I quote Roles and other playbooks from the infra.ah_configuration collection will remain community-supported and stay in infra.ah_configuration collection.

There are some cloud offerings that would work in an Ubuntu only environment, but if you were looking to install it on-prem AAP requires RHEL (it does come with some RHEL subs)

I work for a large scale network operator in the UK and have a lot of years of experience in this field. I was very excited about the ansible ecosystem originally, but I have to say it's the solution to a problem that doesn't exist. In reality, it is bad practice to perform 'Automated Configuration Management ' on enterprise level equipment using a tool like Ansible. For large scale deployments, solutions like Cisco Prime/DNA Center are the standards. I can see value in the centralised management of Linux systems with ansible - in the same way you would manage a Microsoft system with AD / Group policy for example.. But to autonomously manage life and death type systems with Ansible modules that some dude has knocked up with Python would personally keep me awake at night. Sorry for the negative feedback, I did enjoy your video, thanks 🙏
