Suzuki and Slaf had career years, Cole had a career year in points, played better defensively, playmaking and is 1/3 of that trio. To say Suzuki and Slaf had great seasons but Cole had a failed one is ludicrous. I’ll take a Caufield with 20G and 40A this season over a Caufield with 40-50Goals but no playmaking with his teammates and a defensive liability. He has the best release on the team, gets the best opposing checkers all game and still produced 60pts. I give Cole a solid B, only reason I don’t give him an A was due to consistency, but let’s see how he and his shoulder work together next season

If the Habs draft a forward, unless they land the number 1 pick, it's going to take 2-4 years to develop and make an impact with the Habs. If they are looking for a top 6 forward for next season and the future, they will either have to sign a free agent or trade for one.

No this is how the habs become contenders and it’s the only way, they will never be contenders carrying Anderson, Gallagher and dvoraks contract , that 16.7 millions in cap space . Once they get rid of those contracts then they’ll have the freedom to pull affective trades and they have plenty of assets to trade.

Matheson is a defenseman... you can't give him an A when he's been the worst defenseman defensively all year. He shouldn't have the worst plus minus differential with a bunch of rookie/yound defenseman. At the end of the day if you score 4 goals and you give up 5 you lose.

Austin Matthews is the heir apparent to Alex Ovechkin in terms of scoring goals no doubt but in terms of grit and toughness there is absolutely no comparison, maybe Mathews in the future will be that too.

Caufield was a B. His overall game improved a lot despite falling short on expected goal production…though he still scored 28.
