So i guess now every new plane has to look like a stealth bomber. The SEMA society of aviation.

I feel that someone like Burt Rutan and Horten should partner up to make a full-size but private size, 6 passenger Lifting Body Flying Wing Pusher similar to the Celera 500L, but with a full body blended wing design, maybe as a semi-delta wing configuration. A design similar to but scaled down in size to that of JetZero, however, built with a fuller blended wing design.

Cool aircraft but why the need for winglets? Are you now using a bell-shaped lift distibution?

That extreme seat placement to the rear will make ensure this never succeeds.

without appearing to be a karen or anything, isn't that more in line with a blended wing body aircraft?
@jamestunedflat8942 Жыл бұрын
Since I noticed that Horten was responding to the comments, I've had an idea for propulsion that's been rolling around in my mind for about a week now. I was thinking about a ducted fan hybrid system based on a turbo prop turbine spinning an electric generator and running the exhaust through the duct behind a set of electric motors powering the fan blades. This setup would work especially well with a flying/blended wing design. Having a small battery pack would allow more power for take off than the generator can provide on its own, and the exhaust would also provide additional thrust that would be wasted using a standard turboprop design. How would one go about starting a project like this? I'm a truck driver so I don't exactly have a lot of free time or savings to build a prototype.

I might be getting this wrong but your company name is Horton reminiscent of the Horton brothers that made the ho-229 the first jet powered flying wing amd a very stable flying Wing at that

They are beautiful, yet extremely twitchy and unsafe. For a fixed center of gravity machine (some drones), they are OK, but when you have any kind of variable load, missing the ideal center of gravity might mean disaster. And indeed, a good reflex airfoil has about half the glide ratio of a regular airfoil. Separating the wing and the stabilizer drastically improve efficiency. There is a reason everyone tried the concept and eventually dumped it.

I am surprised that you guys use side by side seating, I very much prefer this kind of arrangement but it is not optimum for pusher configuration due to airflow goes over fuselage before going to the props, the props have to be larger than the diameter of fuselage. If the prop is too close to the wing, air flow is vastly different top and bottom of the wing. Engine cooling also an issue. But would be very interested how you guys counter this problem, not many people manage to make such a dream on paper come true.

need a Horten 229 civilian version (twin jet), with bell lift distribution to stick with the original planform...... The shape and look of the 229 is still to this day one of the best looking designs of all time in my opinion.
