With that system variable speed, wouldn't that wear the belt down on the sides pretty fast, it looked to me like all the traction is on the sides.
@PaddyGDIY
@PaddyGDIY Жыл бұрын
Yes, but the wear is minimal. I'm still running my original belt after three years or so.

@@PaddyGDIY after posting my comment I thought about it a little longer. Pretty much all V belts have there traction from the sides so there's nothing unusual there as opposed.... I humbly withdrawal my original comment 😊

@@paddyg1 What sort of bit sizes/styles does the stock chuck take? I picked up this model as-is.. It has no chuck among a few other things but is in mint shape and seems to run well.. no smoke or smells coming from the motor area and I got a replacement drive belt already. I'm pondering ordering replacement chuck from Wen or maybe picking something up from one of the local big box hardware stores.

Thanks for this video. I wonder how many people take the time to put silicone where it makes a difference. Saw a post the other day about a guy who lost some fingers by accidentally putting his hand near the impeller intake. You took off the guards and intentionally put your hand right on that intake. I know you know what you're doing but for God's sake be careful.

Another FYI .. The new versions at harbor freight have a new motor, and it's horrible. My motor housing was 135F after 4 minutes with nothing attached to it. I thought it was just a dud. Got it replaced this afternoon, and the replacement had the exact same issue. Hindsight, the manager kind of just nodded when I told him the issue. Like he already knew the problem. 😞 If you get one, you'll smell rubber burning after a couple minutes, then feel your motor housing to see if hot. If it is, I'd recommend getting a refund. I feel like HF could be doing a recall. It's a shame they likely went to lowest bidder on this after they sold out on the last one. I'll see if I can fish more info from manager tomorrow when I take this back for a refund. Now I guess I'll try a WEN 7.4 amp model... but I've never had much luck with WEN tools... but I can say the same about HF, so it couldn't be any worse lol.

FYI, if you don't want to use silicone, or a permanent sealant for making it air-tight, just get some ⅜×⅜ weather stripping that has the peel and stick on one side. Then, just cut off what you need and put it to the area you'd normally put silicone. Another added benefit, is that it adds cushioning to prevent rattling. And if the day comes, where you need to take off a part to do a mid/upgrade, it'll be easy to take parts off. (But you'll likely want to replace the stripping every time you remove a component that it seals because it compresses and molds to the area, and it might not seal as well, as you replace the components.) Yeah... I just hate working with silicone caulk. Plus it doesn't interact well with poor quality metals if there is a scratch or chip in paint. So best of luck.

Besides orienting the boards with the cup grain arching downward, it is highly beneficial to.fasten the 1× decking with 1/4" space between boards to provide drainage, ventilation and allow for expansion by moisture from precipitation. I would have added at least one extra stringer, spacing looks wide; although I don't know your dimensions. It looks wide at about 5 feet. Thirty inches is too wide for 750# load.

Hey PaddyD, loved the lesson. However, I honestly can NOT find a wheel balancing video explained how to do it 'simply' as you put it. I thought you said you might add one, but I also searched your video list and couldn't not find any lesson on balancing as well. Do you have any youtube links you can recommend providing easy steps in balancing your grinding wheels? Thank you!
