Water Remediation Replacing - Gutter Drains part 1 of 4

Man what a project! It's been two weeks and I am still not done!
So we got water in the basement of our new to us house and it was time to do something about it!
This episode, the first in a series, is about replacing our 20 year old gutter drain system.
The plan for stopping water ingress into your home should start on the outside of your home.
1. First stop as much water as you can from leaking into the soil around your home and foundation. Make sure all of the gutters and downspouts are waterproof and not leaking. Make sure they are sized properly to move your volume of rainfall out into your street or drainage area. Make sure all of the pipe connections are secure.
2. Next if you have water pooling in low lying areas around your property you can add additional drainage by using French Drains, more on that in the next video. Remember French Drains should be graded or sloped away from the wet areas of your property and towards your collection area. If you can’t get the grade you need to allow the water to run downhill you can install a sump and pump to catch the runoff from your French drains and pump it up into the street or drainage area.
3. Use products like Drylock on the inside of your damp or leaking basement walls.
