These knives are meant for PRESENTATION and not to be used as tools so people complaining about 440C are beyond me. This is NOT a “working knife”.

Even though I have a Glock 81 the Field master knife it's still honors me that these are actual good knives and not just something with a name it's stamped on it no offense to kaybar and the legacy of defending our soldiers but you guys know what I mean at least it's not a cheap Chinese knife with a logo stamp on it and marketed at 10 times the price

Every fellow Infantryman I know during my 26 years on Active Duty carried some sort of utility/fighting knife. The M-7 bayonet was a great knife to fight with and when the M-9 came along it was cool,but it wasn’t the same when it came to a fighting knife, it was pretty heavy. More over today, we carry a Leatherman Wave multi-tool and another medium length fighting knife. A long blade is important for a fighting knife, I won’t go into the gory reasons but it’ll get the job done quicker and easier.

from what I know from seeing a reenactment of iwo jima the marine thought his 1911 was bad but I think it was a bad primer he threw away his pistol and with out missing a beat he pulled out his KA-BAR and took care of business like 1911s it was a weapon they swore by

This is a great video with high production values, to include period clothing and buildings, etc. Please allow me to respectfully make a suggestion: instead of the epic style of music, which is used too much, the next time you make a documentary, try to use music of the time in which the scenes were shot. This will add to the authenticity and the viewer will get a sense of the passage of time, and also tie in the events to that particular time in the history of the USA with more impact. Thanks!

A lot of producers are trying to make catchy patterns. There is nothing like a good utilitarian blade shape. Nessmuk knew this as well. I own a fine copy of a nessmuk pattern and it functions well. My only other desire would be to try a yakut knife. I own puukkos and I love them. Utilitarian.

I have a Ka-Bar. It's a modern one and I love it! I got it to learn survival skills & and it's pretty indestructible. I never knew it had such a history, but I have an old friend who was in the Army in the mid 70's and he told me it was military issue so I figured it was well made.

Is it possible to order a custom BK18 cut? In a nutshell, I want to have additional jimping added from top to the bottom of the handle (similar to the Seal FX). Also I want the guard to resemble the Seal FX. That would be perfecto

Sorry, Steve. Unfortuantely, that is not an option. Eddie and Lauara might be able to help you tweak it in their Dad's garage. Aunt Rachael and Richie probably aren't very far away if you need more help.

I saw one up here in Western Canada at a outdoor camping place and it was freaking $320 bucks. Good Lord. When I can have a Buck 119 at $120. In both cases I'm talking about Canadian dollars of course.

I'm a Marine Corps Veteran (84-88) & I found my first USMC Ka-Bar on the beach of a Spanish military base (forget the name) where we were doing joint training with the Spanish Army. It must have dropped from the sheath of the previous unit who trained there 6 months before. It was covered in rust & I came close to passing it up but thankfully I didn't. It cleaned up remarkably, with only two small pits in the blade which didn't affect the edge that sharpened up nicely. I liked it so much that I bought a brand new one as soon as we got back to Camp Lejeaune. It cost me a whole $32 at the base PX. I've bought several more over the years, as I like to give them out as Christmas presents to family or friends.

Great documentary. The 1217 is a great knife! For the past 37 years our job shop has laser engraved over a thousand of them for our military members at Camp Pendleton and abroad, as well as our first responders. We love the knives and they laser engrave beautifully with amazing gold foil and other colors. A grateful shout out to military members and first responders everywhere.

Does anyone know what type of KA-BAR knife the Alaskan used to kill the Kodiac bear? The original KA-BAR that is 7 inch long? I have that and the "Big Brother" version. If the original KA-BAR is capable of killing Kodiac bear imagine what the Big Brother can do.
@KABARKnives18988 ай бұрын
If by original you mean what is now known as the 1217 USMC KA-BAR it would not be that knife. KA-BAR existed for over 40 years before that knife was created in 1942. It was likely a similar fixed blade. The story itself may very well be myth, but those parts are aways consistent.

The longevity of this company was not based on quality as they'd like to have you believe. It's based on the blood of countless American men through multiple wars from which the Jews benifited. All I kept hearing is the story of how a Jew took over and manipulated his way through time and fabricated propaganda to iconic status which modern hands keep reinventing and perfecting to what the product never was ha ha. If you seek a true story of AMERICAN EXCEPTIONALISM look no further than guitar icon LEO FENDER. EVERY ITERATION of his guitar designs has stood the test of time without changing a damn thing.
