Was considering the Rheem RA14AZ. Could you help clarify one thing though? In your video you mention it as having a SEER2 rating of 14.3 however on the Rheem website it is advertised as having a SEER2 rating of 16. This has me confused as to what the actual SEER2 rating is? Your help would be appreciated.

Cool video. I’m currently debating between a 3 ton Lennox condenser, either a single stage with a 14 Seer or a dual stage with 18 Seer, or going with a Trane with 14 Seer but costs a tad more than the Lennox 18 Seer. My house is 34 years old and the old Trane condenser is slowly leaking refrigerant but works. Any recommendations? I heard Lennox had some qc issues the past few years.

Shopping for HVAC in NY, so this is really good. I don’t know anything about ACs. Uh, what kind of valve to be removed? Straighter valve? Is Daikin similar to DX3SEN2410? Is it ok to use an Amana air handler.AMST24BU1400. Do I need aprilaire? This was recommended by HVAC guy and I’m confused. Thank you.

$5k?! I haven’t heard of an AC with air handler installed for $5k in a long long time. Maybe in the 90s.

Had a tempstar variable speed a/c and modulating gas furnace installed 4 years ago in the Midwest - no complaints with their performance, and paid $8k less than comparable quotes from trane and rheem. Installed by a small local company and couldn’t be happier. The system is so quiet I barely notice it’s running walking past the condenser outside. The only thing i will say is that the handler/furnace chassis is noticeably cheap when it comes to fit and finish, but again the savings are hard to argue with when it comes to what matters most.

I like that the camera guy actually has the other guy dive deeper into the products. The guy that’s going through the motions is saying what it is but seems kinda in a hurry to go through the process almost like a salesman that doesn’t want you asking questions and just sign on the dotted line not knowing what you got yourself into which can make customer service a bad situation for them when issues occurs cause someone is just concerned about the bottom dollar.

Hi ! My name is Trung Le. I just purchased my whole house central air Daikin Heat Pump and air handler last week.( I made the decision caused watching your KZbin). Heat pump Model number DZ5SEA6010AB , 5 ton, 15.2 seer. My seller told me it's 1 staged ( 1stage ) but the installer told me it's 2 stage ( 2 speed ). Could you please tell me it's 1 speed or 2 speed ? Thank you .

That’s likely installed on a 2 ton. At least in Utah it is. I doubt the other one would only be $5k installed though. Prob more like $7-8k.

14.3 and 13.8 are the minimums for seer2 depending on btu's. 45k or less btu's is 14.3 and over 45k btu's would be 13.8.

I can only tell you my Lennox system is now 11 years old stationed on a mountain in CT. It is a heat pump used about 9 to 10 months of the year above 38 degrees Fahrenheit. It was the second from the bottom of the available models. In the 11 years, after 10 years an overflow switch failed for $400 installation (parts were warrantied for 10 years). This year on the bi-annual examination, the exterior compressor showed a small drop in voltage. They installed a starter boost for $500 more to enable it to last a couple more years. Getting 13 years out of the system used over three quarters of a year I am pretty happy with it, saving a ton on oil heating costs. With this examination I think I will get another even though they cost a little more in my area. I had a Rheem AC only in my first home in NJ and it failed after 4 years so not getting that again.

I have a 15 year old Rheem classic 90 heating unit and a 14AJL48A01 ac unit. I have clean both every 3 months basic maintenance and only 1 service call to replace the 75 gallon hot water heater. The system has been flawless and I love Carrier but have nothing bad to say about Rheem.

I purchased the Merit Series ML17XP1 Heat Pump April 19th 2024. Cost me $9k installed. The outside unit shakes badly. The tech said the motor or fan was out of balance. They replaced and the new parts are worse. Now they are saying this is normal and they don't build them like they use to. There is a problem with these condenser fans and the Vibration it causes reduces reliability and longevity.

great info, best video series on KZbin. Can you compare or comment what would be the best value. I have a rental property and don't need high seer. I assume Day and Night and TempStar are the same? Can you comment on copper vs aluminum coil tubes etc. Will aluminum leak less?
@GWAC5552 ай бұрын
Any brand from ICP is good deal for the money including GrandAire. I wouldn't think that copper coil is a deal killer. It works just as good as aluminum however, aluminum coils don't oxidize where the copper tubes are in contact with aluminum fins due to dissimilar metals. This oxidization will result in lower and lower thermal conductivity over time, (usually years) meaning, the copper coil will run on higher pressure due to more heat. There are other various reasons also and and one can write a book about aluminum vs copper, but in short, aluminum coils work better.

Doesn’t seem very unbiased.. you gave Lennox 20 points for having wavy coil fins, and then you gave York 10 points for have wavy coil fins. Also tell me how an additional motor mount is going to change anything about the system.
@GWAC5554 ай бұрын
Thank you for pointing it out. We misspoke on the video but we actually gave York 20 points for the corrugated coil fins. The actual score for the York system is accurate. When it comes to motor mounts we all know the benefit of 4 mounts. York is a good system therefore made it to our list.
