3:05 That bridge over the tracks is a pedestrian bridge so there are no cars which makes it an awesome spot to watch the trains come and go.

@class77sncb28 күн бұрын

I just love how unconventional the RhB is with their rolling stock. You know that Allegra EMU thing we bought? Let's have a couple of push-pull trains based on them. And let's also order some extra control cabs in that style, so we can used those with our older Einheitswagen carriages on which you can open all windows. And you can use them as well with those Allegra's so you can stick some Einheitswagen in between the Allegra and the control cab. And let's have regular hook couplings on all of them so you can hook up additional Einheitswagen to your Alvra (which has its own name embroidered in the seat upholstery). And let's hook up some freight cars as well, because the train is going in the right direction. Or an entire Glacier Express consist, because it needs to go that way and who cares? And those tiny Allegra EMU's have the pulling capacity of a freight locomotive because they need to haul themselves AND a load of Einheitswagen AND freight cars across one of the steepest adhesion railways in the world. Heck, they have a higher kW per tonne ratio than every ICE high-speed train.

Thanks. Around 21min there seems to be a junction and an S-bend and the railway line turns away over a large bridge. Where is this, please. I've tried tracing the line on google from Chur to Rechenau-Tamens, but I can't find it! There seems to be industry there. Or is this around Lanquart? Untervas-Trimmis?

That’s more like it. If in uk would be a man with red flag walking in front and horns blaring, because govt thinks we are not capable of deciding a train would hurt.

Always wondered how this works on the single track section when the train is running against normal traffic direction, like at 7:50 if the train goes to the left

Street railroading in a beautiful mountain city. Great fun. In America, the train engineer is required to blast the horn at every intersection. And cars may or may not pay attention. Here, the traffic lights work and cars stop. Brilliant. The logs on the train cars are Huge.

I don't know. I like street running in America where it's a short run which happens to HAVE to do it due to the particular way the city grew around the tracks here. But, to me it's odd that an advanced and the beautifully landscaped country Germany is, would have freight being pulled right through lots and lots of city streets and with a narrow gauge tram system to boot.. I mean log cars going thru a modern downtown just seems wrong to me...Why is this not being done on a separate dedicated rail line with its own right of way ? I love trains greatly and do like short spurts of US standard gauge street running. But, sorry, this seems a bit too goofy...It's very very interesting in itself, though...
