I really, thoroughly enjoyed watching you walk through the process of redesigning an actual mechanic. So few channels on YT will go in-depth about specifics. Usually it's either super-generic, or a video essay made about a AAA game by a consumer. I will have to pick up that book.

Ok I'm probably going to sound like a bot, but I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed this video. It's very informative about the game dev process for a noob like me. The parts of the 3 phases of developement, the tools you used like Fmod and Godot, etc. So interesting. Plus I think you art looks great and has a lot of soul to it. I'm definitely wishlisting Bloodthief now as it looks like a lot of fun.

While i was watching a gamplay i think it would be cool if enemies require more hits but when you hit them they get some kind of resistance if there is more of them so optimal stratrgy for fighting more enemies would to redirect attacks.

You know what I thought about reloading time: if you reaload too fast and do a lot of tries in the game (i remember my playthrough of Sprawl), you kinda get fatigued quite fast. Longer reloads can be okay to restart your brain. But idk, just a thought.

Currently play testing the game, im loving it, one thing i'd enhance is the parry effect, give it a more brutal feeling

You should probably check the 4.4 dev3 release notes :D Godot now automatically falls back to OpenGL 3 gracefully instead of showing that weird error.

12:51 I noticed something while playing this part sometimes I would get caught on the geometry while doing an air dash towards the end of the parkour. It’s not too bad and certainly not game breaking I just thought I should bring it to your attention

I have a suggestion if I may. I think it would be really cool if there was a skill tree Type thing but instead of being able to max out the skill tree you had to pick and choose which one to go down, or have a little bit in every tree. For example a movement tree that gives you a double jump, or combat tree that gives you extra health I think it would make every players experience a little more personal and tailored to their liking. I really like the concept of this game, I already have The play test version of it and we’ll be playing it tomorrow. don’t give up and keep going! 🥂🗿✌️

10:05 Why don't you just run it in a clean install? A VM, or something similar, that you can easily reset. Shadercache wiped along with everything else. Full 1st time experience.

What a waste of money. Get your wife something better next time. Something that lasts and is upgradeable, more repairable. Instead of near future e-waste at ridiculous prices. Framework laptops or an actual desktop. Nice game. Good vid.

what if you added different swords? for example in Like a Dragon Kenzan! or Ishin! the different swords play the exact same, but they have bettter damage and they usually have some kind of aura.
@averygwyn18573 күн бұрын
I think the goriness could be fixed by toning down/removing the arm/sword blood. Having the blood be in-place and just an afterthought to the player, a thematically appropriate confirmation of kill makes sense, but having that blood follow you around makes things weird.

About loading shaders, cod mobile give the option to preload all shaders in the game, it takes usually 2min it then restarts the game and it does help a ton for older weaker phones

A really awesome video. I've learned so much in so little time. Just a quick question: What is the name of the editor one sees at around 10:20? One of the most challenging things for me in godot is making maps (or their structure at last), because i am so much used to the Hammer editor and am missing such features in godot.

Love how this vaguely reminds me of "Die by the sword" (in looks at least) 😁 About the stairs, shouldn't you be able to just use a capsule for the player collisions to easily overcome stairs and small ledges etc?

I dig this. I want to get into game development and minimalism and optimization are things I'm particularly interested in. One of my goals is to make all of my games be able to hit at least 30 FPS on a Raspberry Pi. I've had my eye on the Godot engine for some time, but I'm wondering if it might make more sense to create my own game engine so I have even more control over the optimization.

I don't know much about godot, but it might be good for the AI and path calculation, to run that in a separate thread. That way it can just exist, outside of the base logic that needs to be ran in the physics tick.
