Combined with Godot's Movie Maker mode this means Godot could be used as a renderer for Blender animations, it'd probably render much faster then Eevee so it could definitely be worth it for longer renders

I had issues with this not working for me 1) do NOT set the blender Path all the way to the executable, just the folder that contains it Something like C:\Program Files\Blender Foundation\Blender 4.0 instead of C:\Program Files\Blender Foundation\Blender 4.0\blender-launcher.exe 2) How do you get the blender files to show up in Godot? You need to save your blender file into the godot path of your working game So you hit "save as" in blender and choose the path where you game is You may need to re-start godot a few times, but then you should see that godot starts to import assets, that come from the .blend file and it will be visible for you

For people whos model appears blank when they import it and cant seem to get the texture working, the path for the texture for your model IN BLENDER has to be set to the texture in your godot project file so save the texture in blender, drag it into your godot project, go back into blender and reset the path to the texture in your godot project folder then it should work in game if your .blend and texture are in the godot project folder Edit: if that doesnt work do the same thing but instead export it as a gltf 2 file in blender and make sure the export settings are (select your model by pressing A) Keep everything thats checked already checked Include > Selected Objects Data > Mesh > Apply Modifiers Data > Armature > Export Deformation Bones Only then export it into your godot project and load it instead and it should work the same

man, I REALLY wish this worked. no matter what I do or try, Godot always, ALWAYS says it cant find the material files, even if theyre in the same directory, even if i restart.

tried it, only worked on a scene where it has no armature and less than 10 objects. every other file took too long to load and when it worked, it was all one object with no textures, despite the fact that i imported them into the project.

I'm assuming when you come to building for release, you would need to do it the old fashioned way with an FBX/OBJ etc? Or does Godot manage that when it's making the build?

Godot has very limited tools for making 3D animations, so even if you technically can do them there, Blender is just objectively the better option

So it works for singular mesh, but it wont display any mesh for a scene with over 100 objects. Is this the only limitation, import one asset at time?

Thanks for the tutorial man, it really seems to actually work, however i have but one problem. When i add my blender model directly to godot it appears with no texture, right, but even when i add the png of the texture map of my entire model in godot, it doesn't actually apply to my model in the scene and the model still appears as it has no texture, even when i did the exact same process as you. Anyways, just wanna let you know of this problem and if you could help in any way...

I know what's going wrong.In blender ,you should set the path of the textures you use.The path of the image should be the one in the godot file,rather than the origin one.

Mine refuses to acknowledge any materials set in blender, but this tutorail is also 10 months old which probably means it's already outdated knowing godot.

Hm, I'm seeing what looks like texture compression artefacts in Godot when importing the .blend file, though it seems like the import is using a copied .png file (no compression).

Nice catch! To fix, you should be able to find your texture file in the godot file explorer, go to import settings, and import the texture as lossless. I’m using my phone rn so I can’t verify but I’d expect that this would fix it

Is there some setting I have to configure to get the instant editing to work? It clearly shows here that you can edit something in the blend file and have it immediately update in godot but that's just not happening.
