Do you see those BIG WHITE LINES at the 100 and 50 metre boards karun,, that's the zone you have to be safe in because it's a spot that will have the highest probability of collision.. so are the rules you can deviate course in that zone to intercept your opponent?

Before Max it was fine the rules were perfectly clear the car on the inside must leave a car width, which usually entails the other car having 2 wheels on the track and 2 wheels outside on the kerbs in reality. That was the rules for Decades before Max, DECADES!!!

If these are guidelines, why are penalties given ? Guidelines are open to interpretation and so can not be punishable. If you break a RULE, you get a punishment so aren't they then RULES as a punishment was given 🤔🤔🤔

I think Chandock is looking at that from the point Strappon being in Norris's position and what he has to do to not get a penalty. However points ii and iii should still apply to whover is on the inside . ii. Max was not driving in a safe and controlled control because he didn't stay on track at the exit. iii. Max didnt make the corner within track limits forcing Norris off. iiii . Wasnt able to make the coener within track limits. This is a bullshit grey area but common sense should dictate that if you don't stay on track yourself you cant call foul because you gained an advantageas well. If Sid the sloth had stayed on track it would have been a slam dunk penalty for Norris . But there's no way you can call defending completely off track sportsmanship .

You can be in disagreement all you want, the matter of fact is that the drivers and teams agreed with these type of rules. Verstappen (defending driver) was ahead of Norris (attacking driver) at the apex of the corner. Even though Norris was ahead at the braking zone, that doesn't mean the pass on Verstappen was completed, in fact, it was still going on. Just like the defense of Verstappen. Norris was still the attacking driver and Verstappen was still the defending driver. The attacking driver (Norris) went for a outside pass but because he was not level with the defending car (Verstappen), who was on the inside, at the apex of the corner, that the attacking driver lost his "right" for some space at the exit of the corner. Meaning the defending car doesn't have to give room on the exit of the corner for the attacking car. While Verstappen didn't stay on track, hence why he got a track limits warning, Norris proceed to overtake Verstappen outside the track, hence the penalty leaving the track and gaining a lasting advantage. Even though Norris had no choice to stay on track because of Verstappen going also off track, that doesn't give Norris the right to ovetake him off track.
