It seems there is an error in the video with the strike plate orientation. If I follow the video, my soft close unit catches and cannot pass the end of the strike plate furthest from the closing Jamb. It protrudes too far and fouls operation. (around the bearings)

Trying to fit Hume cavity sliders today and the closing jambs are all approx 18mm too short…..if I fit them the way they say to I will have massive gap at floor that is bigger than the height of the floor covering….not happy…..!!!

For some reason they don't even supply the closing jamb to QLD customers! Bunnings sells the same dimension timber in the timber yard section.

I just checked my 770 Hume Evo on starting, found oem gaps were as much as 6mm out, so track screws would not grab timbers so had to remove plastic locators before mounting it, first reset spacings using the spacing-ridges on them. Even the little spacing timbers weren't the same width. Tracks were missing some screws too, and numbers of and types of screws in small pack didn't match need. Needs better QC, Hume but thanks for an ok video.

I also found the bag of screws to be completely random. No idea why there's 2 self tapping screws in there.

I did it myself with the Woodglut plans. I think this is the best way to find out how to build it.

@@Phantoma3 shit quality caused the problem. I had to recess the door handle and add a spacer at the bottom to push the door further apart.

@@christianking376, Hey thanks for the info. I'm picking up one of these cavity door kits next week and will try to spot any defects before installing it. What do you think it was, warped timber framework?

@@Phantoma3 yeah the timber might have just dried out and bent. It was hard to spot until after the blocks were removed so a visual inspection may not make it obvious. If you buy in qld it comes with a rubber stopper otherwise you need to add one to stop the door slamming against the jamb when slid open all the way. Although it goes without saying double and triple check everything is level and square including the door stops are perfectly perpendicular to the sliding angle. Use packers to adjust if it’s out. I had an issue where the door jamb was on a sideways angle to the door end which was severe enough to affect the door locking properly. Pain the the butt to fix.

@@christianking376, Thanks for all that. I'm installing one for a customer so when I get it home I'm going to unpack it and see if I can spot anything warped or out of square on it. it's the flush-open type so I hope it includes everything I need.

poor method. Use a router and a jig, use a center punch to mark hinge holes center, never plane the very ends so as to avoid chipping. Best practise for trimming is a skill saw and oposite side fence i.e. a clamped straight edge. Router the edges for bull nose

So the only "pre-hung" bit is that you have screwed on the hinges? And if I cut or fit the pieces wrong, they'll be out of place anyway. So basically I need to be a good carpenter to make this work, in which case why bother with your kit?

I would use screws for initial installation of jamb, that way you can back out screws if you need to add more shims to get opening plumb.

Installed a set today and a pivot door 👍well made and they look mint 👌I was lucky enough to be at framing stage so I fixed both units through the back of the frame to save filling any holes 👍
