Anne Marie I was starting to think you may have a point there until I read your opinion on the sliding roller carriages. These are about the best you can get, they don't derail like one sided carriages and allow for very easy and precise positioning that doesn't lose it's settings (I fitted a set 17 years ago and have not had to adjust them). The door frame is plenty solid enough to support itself but if you're trying to bear a load on it then that's just bad carpentry practise

good job mate personally i would use liquid nails for the archs and pelmets and the sliding door sits flush with frai. shkuld of put a 30mm packer behind

How wide is the rough opening? how far does the door extend from the cavity unit? Does the door open flush or stick out a little? This video leaves out the important things that we as carpenters need to know.

door size times two plus 60mm ex: 720 cavity door would work out to be 1500 frame opening

I just checked my 770 Hume Evo on starting, found oem gaps were as much as 6mm out, so track screws would not grab timbers so had to remove plastic locators before mounting it, first reset spacings using the spacing-ridges on them. Even the little spacing timbers weren't the same width. Tracks were missing some screws too, and numbers of and types of screws in small pack didn't match need. Needs better QC, Hume but thanks for an ok video.

I also found the bag of screws to be completely random. No idea why there's 2 self tapping screws in there.

Trying to fit Hume cavity sliders today and the closing jambs are all approx 18mm too short…..if I fit them the way they say to I will have massive gap at floor that is bigger than the height of the floor covering….not happy…..!!!

For some reason they don't even supply the closing jamb to QLD customers! Bunnings sells the same dimension timber in the timber yard section.

Excellent 'instructional video, HOWEVER they install a 'Flush Jamb Unit' (where the door is flush with the split jamb) and not the common 'Flush Pull Unit' (where the door protrudes 50mm past the split jamb. I only found out that there are two different units when I rang Hume Doors. The 'Flush Jamb' unit is a special order at most stockists and costs more.

At Bunnings it's the Flush Pull units that are special order items, the Flush Jamb sets are standard floor stock.

What do you do when you remove the blocks and the cavity bends inwards rubbing the door in the middle?

@@Phantoma3 shit quality caused the problem. I had to recess the door handle and add a spacer at the bottom to push the door further apart.

@@christianking376, Hey thanks for the info. I'm picking up one of these cavity door kits next week and will try to spot any defects before installing it. What do you think it was, warped timber framework?

@@Phantoma3 yeah the timber might have just dried out and bent. It was hard to spot until after the blocks were removed so a visual inspection may not make it obvious. If you buy in qld it comes with a rubber stopper otherwise you need to add one to stop the door slamming against the jamb when slid open all the way. Although it goes without saying double and triple check everything is level and square including the door stops are perfectly perpendicular to the sliding angle. Use packers to adjust if it’s out. I had an issue where the door jamb was on a sideways angle to the door end which was severe enough to affect the door locking properly. Pain the the butt to fix.

@@christianking376, Thanks for all that. I'm installing one for a customer so when I get it home I'm going to unpack it and see if I can spot anything warped or out of square on it. it's the flush-open type so I hope it includes everything I need.

This is actually a very good video but I called up your Victorian office and they told me you don't sell direct to the public....and on your website it doesn't list your stockists. ....so yeah, bit of a fail there.

Geez, looks like a pretty cheap unit, bent gal steel track is going to corode pretty easily? And a timber back stud and bottom plate is not exactly solid. Those carriages look cheap as well.
