I don't understand the hype around Ghibli. Grant you, I've only watched one or two of their films. Yesterday I started watching Spirited away, getting ready to be mesmerised by all that beauty. Yea, the backgrounds are beautiful, but the story and those nightmarish creatures, people turning into pigs, etc. It's full of disturbing stuff, that I kind of don't want. I stopped watching halfway with the feeling of unease. I may be thick, but I was not blown away.

Great film! I watched it 3 or 4 times and every time it was as enjoyable as the first. Never found it dull, I don't understand how people can think that.

Visual story-telling is a very complexed form of art, which requires an exceptional set of skills for the story maker to make a direct connect with the audience. A Director takes into consideration each and every aspect of cinematography, which leaves a deep impact on the film. Let's talk about the movie Pride and Prejudice, the 2005 make by Roman Osin, the genius of Osin here in this movie is well-evident in the use of his striking colors and amazing shots accompanied by the splendid projection of characters by the unique framing and lighting techniques, but that was my choice. It is undoubtedly fabulous and superb, seeing and hearing sooooooo wonderful attributes of the visual story-telling through these selected gems in this video. So far, I'd a superficial knowledge about visual story-telling, but am really thankful to the makers of this video for enriching me about the visual story-telling.

Some canonicals in there, each a masterclass in filmmaking. Gaspar Noe may be one of the most polarising and controversial filmmakers but IMO he's one of the most gifted directors of our times. His films are a visual treat with rich subtext. Brilliant camerawork, stunning visuals in Enter The Void.

Pixar is the left part of the brain, the one who devoted to beauty, emotion and memory. Ghibli is the right part of the brain, the one who devoted to meaning, harmony and existence. 💙💚🤗🤗

Pixar movies are profound, innovative, emotional and beautiful. You can actually feel that your inner childhood is still within you. Ghibli movies are hypnotic, surreal, spiritual and poetic. You can feel that your adulthood is always closer to you. Both Studios are just legendary. Their work is so incredible so this is why animation films is an art. 💙💚🤗🤗

The movie is basically a sci-fi remake of The Maltese Falcon. Every character desires something. The main focus is Anna, but others have personal goals. For example Luv wants Wallace to see that she is the perfect replicant, not Anna. Deckard is the only person, who doesn't want anything but gets what the rest are after. Yet just like the statue Anna isn't what people obsessed searching for them expect. One is fake while the other is flawed.

Apu and Durga running through the rice fields and wild sugercane (kash phool) flowers towards the steam engine in Pather Panchali is one of the most iconic shots in all of world cinema. That itself would be 1-10 in the rankings . Even Ray (who spoke so less about his own achievements) spoke at length about that shot, and the effort it took to shoot that masterpiece.

I think Ghibli thrives because it shows the magic in the mundane and ordinary. When I walk I take a little dirt path it’s not that long but it branches off into a little forest. I just might see Totoro there. Disney the world is distinct and differ than our own.

Too bad that great movies such as this one don’t do well at the box offices. I guess people are just so used to fast paced stuff with a whole lot of fighting they don’t appreciate a meaningful story anymore.

Both the aspects of Spider are well-represented whether following the right path or their road to wreaking the havoc. The story concludes nicely with a message that we won't be finding any barrier in controlling and checking our desires the ease with which we are nurturing them.
