A Question, how long does it take the fruit to grow from seed to picking them. Thank you. Eamonn, Ireland.
@AlmondineBooksКүн бұрын
Good question! Two years on, only one plant survived. The little trunk is robust, but there is no sign of fruit yet. I wonder if it needs its companions and maybe more sun. The plant lives well indoors but it's not massive. I guess there is always hope, but in theory, they should fruit quite quickly... However, mine is still considering what to do.

It's so big as lemon Few days ago i collected from local city park around 20-30 "Chaenomeles" fruits thinking they may have few seeds - to my surprise i opened it and they are full of seeds - in one fruit i counted 33 seeds! I'm gonna plant them before winter.

That must be the Japanese variety, with red flowers and smaller fruits. It's a lovely plant. Good luck, and thanks for your comment!

Where did you bought the seeds from please
@AlmondineBooks5 ай бұрын
I had a tree in the garden, but I had to cut it down, sadly, as it was getting too big. If you buy them, they better be organic. Make sure to follow the seasons and let the nut stratify in winter. They are typically quite easy to grow. Oh, and if you leave them outside, be careful with the squirrels. If you have a shed, it's much safer.

Cool video. How often did you add water to the container? And did you leave the top slightly open to let air in?
@AlmondineBooks6 ай бұрын
Thanks. Once you wet the tissue, you put it in the container and leave it. There is no need to open the lid, as the tissue will dry. Make sure to use non-bleached paper tissue, as the seeds may not like it.

My seeds keep getting molded when I open and take it out while inside the bag. Any advice?
@AlmondineBooks7 ай бұрын
Hard to tell. Could it be the kind of paper you use? I'm not affiliated with these Blitz kitchen papers but they have proven more reliable than plain white ones for some reason. Otherwise, not sure what else could it be. Kumkuat tend to germinate easily but they can get a bit delicate when they grow. Good luck!
@SoupyPawbs5 ай бұрын
I've heard sprinkling some cinnamon in with the seeds can help prevent mold growth. Hope it helps :]
@geezeee5 ай бұрын
@SoupyPawbs thanks.... it's a bit hit-and-miss with the cinnamon... the right paper made a big difference for me.. but yes, I did try cinnamon with other seeds, too. Cheers!

Great video, but how long would it take for them to sprout in the container?
@AlmondineBooks7 ай бұрын
Only a few weeks and no more than a month. If you keep the sedds in the jar for longer, the roots will keep on growing, but once they've germinated, they are good to be potted. Thanks for watching! The new book is coming soon. :)

Nice sound! What kind of changes have you made on the guitar? I can see that the bridge is different. Can you please give me more details?
@AlmondineBooks Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment. Yes, I changed the bridge with a les trem, which is a sort of bigsby. I also cut the arm shorter as it better fits where I play with the right hand. The original bridge gave a lot of attack and sustain, and this tremolo slightly changes that, but it's also nice to have the option of vibrato. The rest of the guitar is as it came. I like the dd pickups, but the tone knobs don't give a lot of range. If you like playing on the high register, you may find the neck limiting as it attaches to the body on the 15th fret but doable. What else... I had the fret ends dressed as I like them perfect, but the rest is as it came. It's not a 335 and not a les paul... it's its own thing. Thanks for watching!

How long do the seeds stay in the paper towel? How much watering once planted and sprouting? Grow lights? Video is interesting but doesn't answer these questions. It does, though, show me what I've been doing wrong so far.
@geezeee Жыл бұрын
The seeds stayed in the paper for about 2-3 weeks. You can check it regularly. But they can stay longer, and the root will grow a bit more, but I felt it was sufficiently germinated to go in a pot. Lemons like water. They do like a lot of natural light. These videos are inspired by a children's book series called Almondine and don't pretend to be the ultimate botanical guide on how to grow plants. It's good fun, though, and lemon seeds are fairly easy to germinate. Good luck.
