Does this smoker have an open flame lever to sear things like steaks?
@GorillaJoesBBQ
@GorillaJoesBBQ 24 күн бұрын
No it does not, I would usually sear stuff on a small charcoal grill after smoking them.

Had to clean up our Blackstone griddle, a wire wheel on a drill is alot faster and easier. The steel wire didn't seem to scratch it either. But ya could use a brass wheel if you were worried about scratches.

Has anyone compared or have experience with both this 35633 model and the newer 415bz? I asked monument if there were any real differences and their response: “The burners of the 35633 are ordinary burners with two side burners. The M415BZ has only one side burner. The M415BZ is a gas grill with a Broil Zone located on the right side of the firebox.The Broil Zone features two standard main burners and one Monument Patented Blade Infrared Burner. These three burners can generate extra high heat on the right part of the cooking surface to sear your steaks. If you don't want a sear zone in the firebox, simply turn off the burner with the red knob. It remains an excellent four-burner gas grill. Whether or not to use the infrared burner is up to you.” Sounds like the only difference is the searing burner is inside the firebox instead of dedicated off to the left side like here in the 35633. I also like these colors of the 35633 better.
@GorillaJoesBBQ
@GorillaJoesBBQ 28 күн бұрын
So you are exactly right. I have had both and the only difference is the sear zone. This one has the extra burner inside the grill instead of a sear zone side burner. I would be happy with either one, if you like the colored ones better I'd go that direction, the sear zone side panel is pretty cool to have on its own!

I can't help but notice that everyone of your choices in all 4 competition videos you always picked the second one. With one exception. The first video you did pick the first one which happened to be the drunken chefs seasoning. All others was the second bite. If you did it all over and reversed the choices, would you still chose the second one? Lol. Maybe a drink of water in between bites to cleanse the palate better?

Really dumb question but how is it that door is not falling into itself? Was it cut/angled a certain way? Again novice dumb question!!!
@GorillaJoesBBQ
@GorillaJoesBBQ 2 ай бұрын
No dumb questions! I feel like I have harassed my smoker builder buddies with tons of questions ha. So the door might fall in at the perfect angle and if the door bracket wasn't on when I cut it out. That's why you want to make sure to cut where your brackets are first. Then weld those brackets on before you cut the rest of the door out so you don't have any problem setting the door.

Dude, you inspire me to want to build my own smoker! Great job, thank you for sharing. I want to some day upgrade, but those Texas style offsets are really out of my budget. I know it's a lot of work but I just recently bought a welder and have been teaching myself. My objective for the welder is to modify my OKJ, I want to lower the stack to grate level and I also bought a bigger stack. Heck I might add a stack damper as well! But seeing this video makes me want to someday take on building my own.

I got one from my employer as a retirement gift. It is perfect if you are cooking for two or three people. Pork butts, chicken, beef roasts, and especially ribs. A stand for the ribs will allow you to do two racks at once, A cheap pizza pan with holes drilled in it can be used as a diffuser instead of the water pan. It will allow you to put in more fuel at startup. I have not done a snake method burn in mine but using the minion method you can get a 4 to 5 hour burn at 250 with no problem. Outstanding little unit.
