I think watching a lot of Andy Cooks subconsciously helped me decide that weed isn't for me anymore. I didn't know until finding this video that he even "struggled with addiction." Coming to the decision to leave it alone was very similar for me to Andy's quitting alcohol: I realized that if it's constantly weighing on my mind, a question as to whether this is good for me or sustainable, then I should probably just leave it alone. Not to say weed is bad. I believe it exists for a reason and it can be medicinal. It just isn't medicinal for myself anymore. I Love Andy Cooks!

Wonderful interview! How did I not see this before..? Love Andy’s channel, and you really got him to open up. He’s a top bloke, as is his other half. Just natural and authentic, and he’s “seen some stuff” - so talks with experience, both as a chef and as a human being. Creative, vulnerable and successful - and so many other words. Loved this. Cheers :)

Just caught this interview. Andy is one of my favorites and particularly the shorts " What do you want for lunch?" and the home cook segments with Katelyn's wine reviews ... priceless!

Andy im a 82 year old Aussie living in the Philippines for past 30 years but your program has been the only thing that has given me both inspirational as well as an interest in food that is now my sole enjoyment. Thank you fir your comments re the Philippines as you are well loved for your comments on Pilipino food and the method of cooking as a true Filipino.

First time seeing your channel and what a great interview. Nothing but respect for Andy - even more so after hearing him speak of what he's overcome. Even though l've been cooking for 50 odd years, I still enjoy learning something new and l love Andy's unpretentious manner and easy to follow style. I'm sure that is part of what makes his channels appealing to so many. I thoroughly enjoyed your interview style too Elliott. It was a pleasure to watch the easy interaction between you two and you asked some great questions and actually listened to the answers. Have subscribed.

Hey Kaitlin, you, are doing great. its not always easy to support somebody and kudos to the both you. I'd imagine a fair few disagreements and all, Very happy for both you an Andy. My partner has such a similar personality to Andy and it felt like an instant connection to you both. Being together someone going through alcohol abuse +drug abuse, and all the complications that come along (breaking up, family support from one side etc) I really appreciate all of it, thank you for sharing

I mean, professional culinary world is so inhumanely stressful. Most, if not all, chefs, sous, commis, line, maitre'd, servers or even dishwashers have gotten addicted to drugs at some point. So, kudos for Andy for overcoming the worst

I did a mental health test at a GP. He said you need to get help. Ring these places. The first one to ring me back was a lady trying to find the best counsellor for me. So I spoke to her for about 5 mins and she said I have the perfect one for you. How are you going to pay?: I am a normal Aussie worker with a family and no health insurance. If I remember it was like $150 a visit. Can't afford that. Sorry I work sorry I'm an Aussie. Sorry I'm not a dole bludger. Still struggling. So glad Andy kicked arse. Normal (slash not under privileged) we get screwed.

Try some university clinics they’re staffed by provisional psychologists who charge around $30 an hour.

Medicare Mental Health Care Plan - I found a psychologist, 10 sessions for the year at $70 each out of pocket - still not cheap but far better than $150 and so worth it. Explore your options, there’s someone out there willing to help you and it won’t cost an arm & a leg.

Also if you walk into a church, any pastor or priest will counsel you for free, they would be happy to and are very skilled and experienced in doing it. I hope that tthis helps.
