You can bench bleed it in the car. The whole purpose of bleeding it on the bench is to keep it level. You can do it in the car but it isn't level so just put the car on some jack stands and jack up the rear until the master cylinder is level. The whole concept behind bench bleeding it is to get all the air out. If it is not level you can't get all the air out. So no problem doing it in the car, just make it level. No problem at all. Car is looking awesome and you are doing some great work! Thanks for the videos.

@@adamscustomshop thanks for your encouragement! I think I’m going to try your method first and see if that works. I always appreciate your comments.
@Kevin_67_RSАй бұрын
Allen, car looking great. I bench bled my Wilwood master. It takes a while and is done to prevent air from going back in the lines while you are doing it. I don’t see how you could accomplish it on the car, but I’m sure someone has done it or tried. I’m running manual brakes and any air left in the system will degrade braking performance no matter the setup.

You also need that wedge on the right side that bolts the steering column to the dash frame
@allenwoolseyАй бұрын
@@autodynamics01 I believe the wedge was for earlier models or column shift cars. I could be totally wrong, but thought I read that somewhere.
@autodynamics01Ай бұрын
From what I know on my 69 it has it.
@allenwoolseyАй бұрын
@@autodynamics01 I’m researching this now cause you have me curious. I obviously want to make sure to build it correctly. I checked the AIM for 1969 and it doesn’t have the wedge shim in there. I also noticed that the AIM for 67 and 68 have it but the column bracket has a 3rd mounting point which is where that wedge goes. If you find something online or want to send me a pic of yours on your car, please do so. Thanks again!

This brings back memories when I built my 69 Camaro SS396. You have done a remarkable job. I bought it in 1985 as a daily driver when I was teaching high school. I started a body on restoration in 1988 and had bone cancer in 1991. I survived and finally finished it in 1996. It is Burnished Brown with a black vinyl top and deluxe interior. It scored 996 at the Winter Nationals and Worldwide Camaro/Ecklers in Orlando. I am 76 and still love my car today.

Looking great man! Yeah, you may need to get a mic for when the phone is on the tripod, kind of hard to hear, but sounds just fine when you are holding the phone. You should get the original assembly manual for the 1969 Camaro, it will help with showing you where all the holes need to go, part numbers for everything, tolerances, wiring diagrams, torques, where sealant goes and what type, and how to assemble everything and all the options. That way you don't have to rely on what people tell you or what you see on other cars because there is no guarantee that they did it correctly in the first place. You can buy a hard copy about anywhere but I recently found a PDF version on Google of the Factory Assembly Instruction Manual, also the Chassis Overhaul Manual, the Fisher Body Service Manual, and the Chassis Service Manual. Great books to have for a reference. Again, that Camaro is looking beautiful!!

The hockey stripes look amazing! My 2 cents- I like Chrome on these cars if they’re balanced out. Door handles, mirrors, marker lights, bumpers and window moldings. Just feels like vintage muscle. If you don’t like them you can paint them black anfterward. Are you going to do wheel and drip rail moldings? How about engine badge and shark gills? Those would be harder to remove and paint.
@allenwoolsey6 ай бұрын
Thanks for the compliments on the stripes. I like the idea you have of trying chrome first and then if I want, I can just paint them. I’m going to leave the drip rail trim for last to see if I want it. I won’t be doing the wheel trim or gills. Not a fan of that trim.

Man, that is looking awesome! They did a very good job and you are doing a good job too. The satin or matte black trim and everything would look killer against the candy red for sure. That's my vote. lol I am using Cerakote to paint all my bumpers and handles and trim and what-not satin black. If you paint the stuff yourself try to use a 2k product (base with a hardener/activator), preferably with ceramic, if you can. Obviously you are limited to where you are and have but maybe a good engine paint or something if you go rattlecan. It is more expensive, but they do have the 2k paint in rattlecans now that you pop the internal bladder with a stem at the bottom and it should last a day or two, depending on the product, so maybe check that out. Either way, the Camaro is looking amazing and you are doing an awesome job!

@allenwoolsey8 ай бұрын
The sandblasting was about $2,400 for the complete car and subframe. It was a little more due to using soda blasting on some parts of the car. Every body shop has a different price as far as labor and it also depends if you are keeping it stock or doing mods or need panel replacements. Plan at least $20k if you’re in CA.
