So is advisable for varsity students to take up store accounts like edgars, mrp and phones etc with the intention to pay it back but also build a credit profile? 🤔

I am in my third year studying in France. I am originally from Mauritius. I have to thank you a lot my fellow African brother so helping me see the light at the end of the tunnel. I failed a lot in life. I realised after a long time that NO ONE taught me how to learn at university. NO ONE. I naively thought it was like high school with just more content. I am still trying to find my method of learning but watching your videos makes me optimistic about the future. My main problem is that I CANNOT listen and understand the lecture WHILE at the same time note down these concepts. I either listen and understand or write down while trying to understand at the same time which is difficult when the lecture is quite difficult. Then this causes me to lag behind because by next week, the lecturer has already started a new lecture and I am still trying to understand the previous lecture. Any tips on how to approach this ? Should I just note down only main points and move at the same pace as the lecturer or should I try to understand things at my own pace ? Thank you !

It doesn't matter which university you go to. It's not about the school, it's about the student. The salary at the end of the day is the same. Knowing the theory is not a skill that employers want which is what BSc etc degrees are all about. Beng tech combine both practical and theory which is better because you are getting both. Same as diplomas from colleges, you are more hands on with the material. Hence why most colleges, university of technologies have highly skilled graduates who more employable. That why there is high unemployment rate of people who graduated from theory, from wits, up, uct, ukzn, etc. Theory isn't equivalent to 'Skill'. Don't look down on colleges, tut, cut, dut, etc.

Non-Mathematician: Employer would you tell me How is Measure theory, Real Analysis,Topology and Group theory applicable in banks or finance 😅😅😅? Employer: They are not applicable in banks 😂😂😂. Non-mathematician: So why do useless mathematicians get employed in banks 😂😂😂? Employer: measure and integration, Group theory and real have taught this guys how to think a bit outside the box , so i believe in them . Non-mathematics : ............

Some pure mathematics problems, specifically proof based math problems could be 2 marks and requires an individual think very mathematical outside the box or be bit more creative, alos we have to take into account that most pure mathematics are problems you have never seen before 😂😂. So that could require even 6 min to solve 2 mark question. 😂😂😂😂😂😂 Mathematicians have no room in haven sham 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Muvi is a very hard working individual who believes alot in hard work. His academic records are a testament to that. Hard work beats talent every time and hes got both. Everything this guy has achieved thus far, was solely due to his huge dedication to his academic studies and his desire to learn. He shares alot of traits with the likes of Elon Musk. Quick to learn and huge devotion to their work.

So, I’ve got an Industrial Engineering degree and an Honours from UJ, where I did things like Engineering Math, Engineering Stats (which I actually loved, Yoh! got a distinction even), and Information Systems (tutored this module as well). I got into Industrial Engineering because I was all about solving tough problems and using my brain in different ways-not just numbers. It felt like the perfect fit at the time. But after almost three years in manufacturing, I’ve realized I’m way more into the data side of things. I like the idea of feeding data into a system, analyzing it, and using those insights to make smarter decisions (data-driven decision making), rather than being on the production floor all the time. Honestly, I’m not sure if I’ll stay in manufacturing or move into a totally different industry, but data science really excites me. The principles behind it-like predictive modeling, data visualization, and using algorithms to make decisions-just click with my personality. I enjoy problem-solving and getting the right insights from numbers, and I feel like a data scientist role would really suit me. I've researched so much on this. I'm currently teaching myself python programming using KZbin and stuff. I’ve applied to the Wits Postgraduate Diploma in Data Science and I’m waiting to hear back. I got into the ALX (ExploreAI) Data Science program in January 2025 if it doesn't work out with wits. I hope it’s not too late to transition. If you’ve got any advice, corrections, or reality checks, I’d be all ears!

😂😂 8:45 This is not true. If you're going to write your board exams with ASSA, you need MATHEMATICAL-STATISTICS module on the 2nd. Many computer science degrees don't have that. Your best bet is to actually do an Actuarial-Science, Quant, Fin Engineering, Stats-Degree. Infact, you can switch from Actuary to being a Developer/Data-Science, not the other way around. You may be an analyst, not a fellow. Unless, you can do the module for non-degree purposes, or write your board exams with IFOA or other boards.

I'm doing business informatics next year. I have a bcom Economics and Econometrics degree already and 7 years finance experience. Hopefully it will be easy on me, luckily enough I only have to do 55% of the modules since I did most of them in my first degree.

I'm self-studying using videos on KZbin. There is no specific curriculum that I am following, and thus far it's been relatively slow and yet fruitful at the same time. Luckily, I have some experience with self-studying via online courses, so I'll keep pushing until I've built the background and have learnt the programming related skills. About Data Sphere Africa, I've just checked it out on Linkedin, and it seems like there isn't much engagement there. The only thing that one can find online are the posters for an event that supposedly happened in March. Hope you guys can get it up and running soon.
