I just had a drum orgasm (smile)... Dave Weckl has a fat drum sound, on an instrument that was designed to have a short staccato sound, the tone of the drum 🥁 has a quick decay rate Through percussive artistry Dave has developed a long flowing drum sound he has developed a musical legato tone much the same as an opera singer... The coordinative complexity is extraordinary...🎉 I am in love 💕 with Dave Weckl's sound... Viva De festival...👍

I've put a lot of time and effort over the past few years to elevate my playing to a respectful level. I finally got to a point where I was pleased with my playing....And then I came across this video. I watched it twice. I then went and got my DeWalt skill saw and went to work on my drum set and every pair of drum sticks I could find throughout my house. After running the battery completely down on my saw, I swept up all the pieces and emptied it in the middle of my burn pile, poured gasoline over it and lit it up. And that's what I think about that!😅

Cool story, my dad and I were shopping for a drum set when I was in high school jazz band and went to Forks in Nashville. This was 2002 and there was a beautiful birch custom set. A guy working there came over a said Dave had a clinic the last week and now the drums were for sale. So I ended up getting drums that only me and Dave Weckl have played!

This band is fun! Terrific performance. I did notice that Dave Weckl starts off at around 112 BPM, and then immediately accommodates the tempo when the guitar kicks in at around 108 BPM, which doesn't change after that. And his superb drum part here ought to be mandatory listening for anyone who wants to play in a band, regardless of genre or instrument.
