I'm black and my both parents are both. I'm 29, I recently noticed my beard started turning very brownish somewhat red.

There is nothing you can do its all genetics, shaving doesn't help, letting it grow shows what you can achieve and last solution people talk about is minoxidil and all that crap.

Even if the head shampoo strips your beard from its oils you can re oil your beard again? Or is my logic not correct

Minoxidil oil worked for me! i only had a goaty and some hairs on my jawline, used minoxadil every day for about 2 months than on and off sometimes 1 every 2 weeks for about 5 months after that and now i have a full beard. Haven't used it since and its been like 8 years

Yes, I’ve seen a lot of guys with great, full beards who have no hair on their head. But I’ve also been with enough bearded guys with little to no body, leg, & arm hair too.

Does curly hair make the beard appear fuller if you let it grow for months even if you don't have much density to begin with?

My dad and my brother can grow beards so fast my brother has to shave 2-3 times a day. I’m 29 year old white male and every male on both sides of the family can grow one except me. And I’ve got nothing on my cheeks and only one side of my neck. No chest hair either and I’ve got 2 chest hairs while my dad and brother are covered. But I have really hairy legs

I just turned 29 and can grow a really go mustache (better than all my friends that can grow beards). My testosterone levels are on the higher side of normal and have long thick hairs on my ass/gooch. I have almost no hair on my chest but grow a decent amount on my chin and going off the chart you provided I would say they are dense. My dad, uncle, grandad and brother can all grow beards. Am I cooked?

I was 20 before I even had to shave. Look, you either have that shadow line, or you don’t. Simple as that. Never had sideburns. Can grow a solid goatee. Big mustache. Went 17 years between growing facial hair. Shaved daily. When I decided to go at it again I was shocked at all the grey hair. I don’t have grey hair on my head. At all. Yet.

So in my family all men are bearded from a very young age....even i started developing my beard around 12 Y.O, im 19 and it already looks good even at the 3 days beard-shadow stage though it still needs to mature and become a bit thicker in the hair itself but i got no worries: my dad, my unclew, my brother, and some cousins both from both mom and dad side of the family are 1) really bearded and 2) have hairs even in their back......also my beard grows higher below the eyeball....but again those hairs arent as thick as my father's guesd because of the age he's almost 50 and im almost 20 so.....be patient jajaja

One additional benefit is when you apply beard oil it keeps your hands moisturized during cold weather months. My hands tended to get dry and cracked but not since I've been applying beard oil. :)

I'd love to be able to simply have one of those very short, tidy, trim beards that wraps from sideburn to sideburn and goes around the mouth, but I'm slowly accepting I can't even have that. At my age - and I ain't exactly twenty anymore - I barely grow anything. It sucks because I have a full head of hair and I love the crewcut+beard look, but apparently I can't have it :P

Promoting = commisssion $ Grizzly Mountain dye: Where do I start? I wanted to try something new since the reformulated Just for men beard isn't great anymore. So here we go, I got the dark brown: 1. The packaging. You get a lot for your money but you'll never want to use it unfortunately. This powder gets EVERYWHERE and you'll be better off getting some jars to put these in. 2. The product. It turned my beard green. Followed the directions to a tee. Instructions even say something like "if your beard stays green, apply the activator" yada yada yada. So just the dye alone is what you try first. Green, smells, huge ass application brush which is good, but you have to use your own container to mix. I waited a day and tried again with the activator. Followed ALL the instructions. Stains your skin green, kind of stays in your beard hair as green but ultimately DOES NOT WORK. I left it on for the suggested amount of time now and I do NOT have the "super coarse" hair it says you need to use the activator with if your hair turns green. And MOST importantly, it DID NOT change by white beard hairs to any other color... they stayed white as could be while my skin was a nice alien green, and the darker hairs had some green tint. 3. Unless they reformulate this AND give their packaging a COMPLETE overhaul, this is my one and only purchase. I'd like to get a refund, but much of the activator powder exploded onto my floor, and the junky packaging has no way to seal the main powder. Junk.

At 50, I still have a full head of hair. I have never had much body hair, but that has slowly disappeared over time as well. I used to have 5 chest hairs, now I have none. The hair on my legs is disappearing too. I have never had hair on my ass or back. I always had a hard time growing hair on my face. However, as my body hair has been leaving, it seems to be redirecting itself to my face. I can now grow a beard and have had one for years. My father cannot grow a beard and both of my brothers still struggle with theirs. A lot of what you said makes sense, but none of it applies to me. I have a friend who has been losing his hair since he was 16. He can grow a full mustache and has had one since about 16 as well. Dude cannot grow a beard at all. At 52, he still only has 5 hairs that will grow on his chin and a few stragglers on the sides of his face. I don't think there are any rules to any of this and am calling BS on these theories. You can try hair stimulation, drugs or hormone treatments and they may help, but I think the bottom line is genetics. It's a roll of the dice.
