I used a piece from a dish sponge to apply it. You can also use a brush. You need to stir the mix up well so it becomes one liquid. Otherwise you end up just having the gluey black tar and the watery turpentine. Also are you using real turpentine or this substitute stuff? If your turpentine smells like freshly cut pine tree it's the right one if it just smells strongly after chemicals it's the wrong kind.

Can't get 30 rounder mags anymore. Illegal... A few years ago I could buy any mag I wanted. Now not possible anymore... 🙄😤 I don't have a 3D printer so no option for me. Though I wouldn't be any difference then at all if you use an airsoft mag or a 3D printed one... 😜

As you can see in the video a rinse with hot water is enough for Evapo-Rust. I made a video about airsoft wood finish and imitating the Russian look. I used Shellac nnd redbrown wood dye.

@@2lbsTrigrPull I’ll look into that video. Cool projects man! One fun idea would be to grab some cheaper specna arms/CYMA AK with worse painted externals and seeing how realistic you can get it. Since you’re replacing sight posts, wood etc already with real parts it might be more economical since E&Ls are already supposed to be one of the better airsoft ak’s externals wise. Specnas already come with better internals, if you do play airsoft 😁 I know you dabble more in airguns. Be sure to look up polish sites like taiwangun or gunfire, but you might already know that 😃

There's no spring on AKM models. Only AK-74. But I guess it's done by a "bending and twisting" motion.

This was an airsoft AKM with a fake barrel. If you look closely, you can see two holes in the barrel right in front of the rear sight block. No need to plug it. For real firearms you need to plug the barrel! Otherwise you screw it up. In case of threads you will find different opinions. Some say it's not good to parkerize the threads and some say it won't harm it. I'm leaning towards you can't harm the threads with the park job. Maybe pay attention when sandblasting. I would rather not sandblast the threads. It's not that they won't work anymore but they will get "crunchy". Real Russian AKs are just dipped and not taken huge care of in this process. You will find spots not even painted like under the lower handguard retainer on the barrel and on the muzzle threads too. I wouldn't worry to much and just go at it. lol 😄

@@2lbsTrigrPull Thank you for responding so quickly, I have a Vortek PG4 HO kit that's supposed to arrive today and it's my first time installing one as well as the first time disassembling a Beeman R9/HW95. Do you think I'll be able to reassemble the rifle without a spring compressor?

@@wesbodine6102 I don't know that Vortek kit and how long that spring from that Vortek kit is. All I know is that the cylinder of the HW95 is pretty long and can accomodate longer springs without the need of a spring compressor. Compared to the HW80 which has a pretty short cylinder and bigger springs in spring diameter and bigger diameter overall I would say you don't need one with a bit elbow grease. When installing high powered springs in the HW80 you definitely would need one. With the R9/HW95 I don't think so. Report back when you have the kit. I'm curious how the installation goes for you. cheers

I guess with tube you mean the piston? I would go for a Retro Arms piston with steel teeth. Standard E&L steel gears are okay but you can also upgrade to the more premium E&L steel gears. Piston head I would get a FPS Advanced Alu Piston Head with two seals. I think they are made in Italy. Cylinder and cylinder head also from FPS. Standard E&L nozzle is okay but can also be upgraded. ^^ I can't even tell you where the stuff in my AKM comes from because they were already pre installed from the shop I bought it from. There's a lightweight piston in it. I think with 15 teeth. Standard E&L gears, steel cylinder and I think Begadi Piston head with standard E&L nozzle. Mosfet from Begadi was also pre installed. My Hop Up unit is also from Begadi called Nebu Pro. Bucking and and Hop Up are also from Begadi with TNT Air Cushion S+ barrel. The rubber bushing on the spring guide get's this one to around 1,8-1,9 Joule.

@@2lbsTrigrPull Thats awesome, cool thing you got there :) This is the first time ever i disassembled my gearbox, gladly i was able to put it back together. Only problem is, that i can order from like gunfire etc, but the shipping is literally got a higher price than the item itself! :D Original gears seems pretty cool to me honestly, i dont really want to fully upgrade it, as im not active on games, but would be awesome, but the prices.... I will take a look at that hop unit, as i really liked it in the video, if i see that correctly, you can change the hop with a "knob", its way better than screwing that plastic thing. I waste your time with this last important question, as noone really gave me an anwser, so, if i buy ANY pistons with 15 teeth like the original, all of them will fit, all the gearboxes having the same dimensions, or i need to look out for something else? @@drakeblackk Yeah on the Nebu Hop Up Unit you can turn a knob to decrease or increase Hop. The gearboxes should all have the same cylinder, piston, piston head and cylinder head dimensions. For cylinder it's 23,8mm inner diamter and 25.5mm outer diameter. If you buy something for your E&L it should fit.

@@jackspring7709 I swapped out the wood for original Russian handguard set and the buttstock was changed by me too. Some of those E&Ls have kinda weird wood that looks more like MDF (was the case with mine) but the E&L stock I bought extra was nice wood laminate that looked exactly like the real one. I have already made several videos bout upgrading the E&L and how to do the original russian wood shellac finish. This spring/summer I will do another modding video which is something no one did before, at least not to my knowledge. 😁 Nice weekend to you too!
