I think we were going to get third kits at one point, but Nintendo changed their mind. Probably because there's too many weapons and seasons already ended. I'd love to see third kits, buy I have 0 confidence we will get any.

I personally think that they wouldn’t have just added that code for no reason, ESPECIALLY if it has function. So idk about you guys, but I think it could happen. Here's a far out theory: what if the third kits we get will be released in May and designed after some of the original kits in Splatoon 1 to celebrate the series' 10th anniversary. EG, the Splat Roller coloured green with a suction bomb and killer wail kit.

I imagine that, like with the Splattershot Jr in Splatoon 2, the ink tanks would also change to the Splatoon 1 ink battle ink tanks, or the Splatoon 3 ink battle ink tanks would be kept but would be recoloured.

If there are 3rd kits, it's possible there will be a Splatoon 3 DX version on the next big console. (Similar to the Mario Kart 8 booster pass or the Switch version of Pikmin 3 having more challenge mode levels compared to the Wii U versions.)

I feel like with the switch 2 on the horizon, third kits, if they happen at all, will be some sort of free update for that system. Not really a "Splatoon 3 deluxe" but like, the free part of maybe a second wave of dlc? Not sure but if we have any sort of chance for third kits... it's probably gonna be for the new console.

If third kits happen, I really want a third kit for tetras. Tetras have never gotten a 3rd kit due to being introduced in 2 and not getting one there. Plus, I want to be able to play tetras with a full kit instead of two half kits.

I do wonder if this is connected to the launch of the Switch 2 and it being cross-gen. The game getting further updates during the Switch 2s lifespan would allow it to continue to sell well.

I believe our chance is in May, when the Tenth Anniversary of Splatoon is! The Switch 2 may also be out by then, which has been confirmed to have backwards compatibility, so this could also be a way to market selling Splatoon 3, even post-GrandFest! alsonintendopleasegrandfestreruntoothanks
