Hey, just a lil’ tip about the large pots: many restaurant and brewery suppliers will sell cosmetically damaged pots at a steep discount. I think I paid less than a hundred bucks for my 30 gallon pot. I use one of those propane burners like a caterer would use to hold it. If you do a lot of dyeing, it’s worth the investment. I’m in Texas, and we have a lot of opportunities for wild dyes here. I like to dye flour sack towels, because they’re cheap and I can make anything out of them, or just give them as gifts “as-is”. This time I’m using Garden Huckleberries, and I’m doing enough towels for a dress.

Oh wow, thank you so much for the tip! I'm definitely going to look into that. I love that you are so experienced with dying fabrics using what you can find growing locally! Cheers ❤

First time watcher. Great video, filming, music, commentary, brava! Love the shape of the dress, especially the laborious ruffle. The color isn't my favorite but in that case, I would dye it. A light coffee colored dye instantly ages and warms up any fabric. I've fallen in love with many a cloth that I would have otherwise gifted to the thrift store because the dye gave it a while new look that I am in love with. Great job on the sewing. Hope you have a delicious time with your girls. You have a nice presence.

Im so curious about the itch you cant scratch.... what is it? Is it about the art of movies or is it about being completely immersed in a charming setting. Like, would you like to have a time machine and be able to go places/times and live there for a bit? OR does the art and detail of film enthrall you?
@jodeanadara6 ай бұрын
That's such a great questions! I think both actually. Movies have always captured my imagination and are such a source of inspiration for me. The curated vision of the director, combined with all the talented artists who bring a story to life seems like such a magical thing to take part in. Many movies are like old friend to me, and bring me such comfort as I watch and rewatch. I'd also love to fully understand how people used to live off the land and create homes and lives from the materials around them. My day job is indoors and starting at a computer for hours, but I crave creating things with my hands and focusing on making the things I need versus buying them.

Love your reveal video, so artistically filmed and edited! I’m wondering if your linen had a small percentage of elastase or other man made fibre in it, and the heat from either or both of the washing/dryer shrunk the that fibre, resulting in the permanent wrinkles, making tbe fabric unstable and stretchy. I own an Edwardian original duster made from a mid weight linen, but have seen originals made in very lightweight silk, and yours reminds me of them. Really like how the diamonds on the braid kind of match with the triangles on the back!

I think you really get me 😂 without knowing me! My favorite style is 90s of course, where I grew up. But also this other thing, and I can't find the words for it. I think it all looked stellar! The coat looks great! One thing for your lining is a slippery fabric is much easier to slip on over other clothing as well as to lay a bit better on top of wool. Might help if you swap out the sleeve lining for a slippery satin or something to make it easier to get on. Small shoulder pads can be used to pad out the sleeves too if you need it. Don't give up, coats are hard! ❤
