HOW WAS NOT ON THE ALBUM??? It could have easily done just as good, if not better then “don’t tell me” “music” and “what it feels like for a girl”! Not saying this song should replace one of those on the album I just wish it was added in addition to them :(

Listening to this, it reminds me of "S Club Party" by S Club 7. That song was released in 1999, but it has the same, or a very similar, melody.

I think this is the William Orbit demo. She went with Mirwais Ahmadzai for the album version with a more folksy acoustic guitar back up which blended well with the country/cowboy vibe of the album. Beautiful ballad with superb lyrics.

@vladimirobradovic-tm6kf how do you know it's a copycat? Producers create songs and offer them to artistes who then decide to take it on or not. It was probably offered to Madonna, she rejected it eventually and it was offered to Monie Love. Just like Shake Your Head- originally for Madonna, she did a demo, decided against it and it went to Was Not Was

The music composition is very much Who's That Girl, especially at the beginning. I'm not really sure who she is singing about. Her vocal delivery is just way too high. I can see why this didn't make it onto an album as it's a fairly weak effort overall. It definitely would not have fit on the Like A Prayer album, as it lacked the dramatic mood of that album. You know, I actually wonder if this was originally written as a possible soundtrack song for Who's That Girl. Again, musically at the beginning, you can clearly hear the musical notes from the WTG single. And the lyrics almost would fit the theme of the movie.

LAP gets the dramatic mood description all the time, sure the title track, Till Death, Promise To Try, Oh Father.....but Express Yourself, Cherish, Keep It Together, DEAR JESSIE?? all bubblegum pop that had True Blue-esque production
