The only reason people thought this woman was black was because her image does not appear on the 12-inch single and this song was only played in the clubs and on R&B radio no one thought she was black because of her vocals people also thought Teena Marie was also black because her music also was played in the clubs and R&B radio and likewise there was no image on her first album cover people also thought Teena Marie was black because of her vocals and Madonna is no teena Marie no hate no shade just facts

Growing up, her performance of this at G-A-Y in 2005 in the pink was LIFE, but some things are better in the original; it's the harmonizing background vocals and unaffected street funk that do the trick.
