Wow, you have some really poor habits when working on a table saw. Good that it's a SawStop...

Do you need special screws to nail wood onto the foamboard to finish off the basement walls?
@KathleenBelitsky19 сағат бұрын
I like your informative video: Question about using foamboard for a concrete basement wall: Is one inch sufficient? And where is the best/cheapest place to get them in large quantities as they seem to be rather expensive. Lastly, can you nail plywood over the foam board to finish up the basement?

I’m a long time bricklayer. I don’t do much chimney and fire place work but I want to. I’ve been watching many videos of guys doing fireboxes and this guy is good. His joints are nice, his cuts are perfect. Good job man!

Learned that 50 years ago from an old guy I worked for. Now I’m the old guy and did it on a job the other day and the younger guy who was working for me had never seen it. Happy to pass it along.

There's some kind of BS here, needs an explanation. The text says "damage is possible long before flames actually arrive" then goes on to say these vents help. But all the imagery shows, and the way it functions requires, flame or high heat right there at the wall of your house before the vent does any good. Indeed, the biggest issue with a crawl space vent, like this is designed to replace, is embers getting through the vent a long ways ahead of and flames. The fancy intumescent coating doesn't do anything to prevent that. If you've got flames right at the wall already, there are certainly already embers inside the basement. Plus the flames are igniting the wall directly. Doesn't make sense.

The 1/16" mesh on the back prevents ember intrusion. These are one of the few designs (Brandguard is another) that have been tested and approved for such purposes in California.

It’s tough to find a solution to the obvious problem here: get quality content without being a glorified commercial. We all want free quality content, it’s just sad to see institutions like FHB becoming an ad agency to stay afloat.

I hate the fact that he creates reverse laps from the beginning, he should have used the fully adhered WRB over the pan flashing. Best practices would have the pan flashing turn up the jambs before adhering the self-adhesive WRB into the jambs, I give him 6.5 out of 10, don't build in reverse laps. It's a good thing he isn't a roofer. Install your bow-ties first good grief.

So you cut a straight edge but what about the other edge laying on the board? surely if that's not perfectly straight then neither will the edge you've just cut, i'm not talking about the plywood or am I missing something ?

1/4" hose is much better. You just use the nozzle that comes with can. Separate the tip from the base that fits on can, then attach the 1/4" hose to the base and the tip.

If you can afford to spend some extra cash on insulation that I would go with sheep wool insulation or hemp wool insulation. Sheep wool has some interesting properties that would probably make a home feel more comfortable but do your own research. I would also spray foam just the gaps between rafters, studs, walls, floors, ceilings, etc.
@spamtastic71087 күн бұрын
rockwool in the stud bays and cover with a smart vapor retarder add ridge and soffits vents if not already present attach 1x2s to sides of rafters at the roof deck this will create vent channels when you glue polyiso insulation boards cut to loosely fit between rafters leaving enough room to fit spray foam straw then spray foam the gaps attach an additional layer of continuous polyiso to the bottom of rafters and tape the seams

Only thing I’d suggest is putting a small piece a tape over the corner edges ( or where the two bead meet in the corner ) to cancel any future cracking, and to tape the inside corners of your windows

Awesome. Hey, I was reading about that fiberglass tape, and everything I read says it needs to be in hot mud, not all-purpose compound. I can see using the fiberglass tape for repairs, maybe, but for the price point compared to paper or mess, I'm not sure it's worth it.
@chet-h5t3 күн бұрын
You have fiber fuse and mesh tape confused.... mesh does need to be bedded with hot mud for the small percentage that uses it. Fiber does not and is actually well worth the money especially on butt joints..... on regular flats really doesn't make a difference

DIY lead paint projects can sometimes get overwhelming, and similarly, crafting perfect email strategies often seemed impossible. But Filter Bounce keeps the bounce rate under 1% like magic. Paired with my current SaaS, it is a lethal duo. Smooth email verification is crucial and affordable at just $10/month. Definitely a resource to consider if email bounces are giving you a hard time.

Lead paint problems sometimes require expert hands, like cold outreach needs the perfect tool. With Mystrika, I have had a thriving 6-month journey - from crafting custom subsequences to taking advantage of comprehensive analytics. The freedom to send unlimited emails is liberating! Did I mention their masterclass guide? Take it from someone who is been there, this tool forms the backbone of any successful email strategy.

Lead paint removal is not for the faint-hearted, perhaps expert advice is the way to go. Switching gears, I have been combining DoYouMail with another cold email SaaS for close to 10 months. Absolute powerhouse for sending. The automatic SPF DKIM DMARC DNS setup makes life easy. Many overlook these details, but DoYouMail nails it every time. If you are navigating many domains, it is a must-try for sure.

Considering the complexities involved in lead paint removal, it might be worth consulting an expert if you are not confident. But switching over to cold emails, I have been using Mystrika for 6 months now, and it is changed the game for me. The unified inbox is a dream, keeping everything organized. And the ability to personalize and use preheaders? Elevated my open rates like never before. If you are dealing with deliverability issues, this tool is definitely worth a look. Also, their Cold Email Accelerator guide is solid gold if you are new to the scene.

Think twice before tackling lead paint without expert advice. In the same vein, Mystrika has strings of success in cold email campaigns, tested over countless months. Discovering Mystrika is A/B testing options transformed my trial-and-error efforts into a fine art. Their fun and vibrant community are the cherry on top. Plan starts at just $19/month - why not elevate your email game?
