Do we need to remove the MAF O Ring before we spray the cleaner on it? And should I reset the ecu using the fuse method or battery method after. My long term fuel trims are negative -5.8% in both banks and afr is lambda 0.82 or 12.2 afr. MAF is reporting 9.8g/s of air at idle and I’m getting 7 mpg even with a light foot.
@cpfb68
@cpfb68 23 күн бұрын
@@MathuCampbell You don’t need to remove the O ring if you use MAF cleaner. DONT USE ANY OTHER TYPE OF CLEANER or you risk damaging the sensor. You don’t need to reset the ECU if the vehicle was running properly before the cleaning. You will need to idle and drive the car a bit after the cleaning so the computer can recalibrate based on the clean sensor depending on how dirty it was before. I usually see the car running normal again the next day. If you continue to have poor MPG after cleaning the MAF, look for other issues. Sometime a simple vacuum leak can cause havoc with MPG. Look for a loose vacuum line.

@cpfb68
@cpfb68 27 күн бұрын
@@DeejayDenz P0172 and P0175 are too rich fuel on banks 1 & 2. Yes and no. There’s lots of possible reasons for these codes to kick off. Some are Faulty oxygen sensor Clogged fuel injectors Fuel pressure regulator issues Vacuum leaks in the intake system Malfunctioning mass airflow sensor You need to look up vids to test your MAF sensor to make sure it’s working correctly before you start a parts cannon and just throwing parts at your car to try and fix the issue. Make sure you don’t have a simple vacuum line disconnected somewhere and it’s dumping fuel into the system. Try the simple fixes first.

For those who want a Complete (Trans, Torque Converter, and Radiator-Cooler) fluid exchange vs an approx 40% pan exchange, the following 2007 RAV4 approach SHOULD be applicable to Most makes and models: 1.) Remove the plastic shield under the front of the vehicle. Note, new assorted plastic push-clips are recommended. 2.) The radiator cooler transmission fluid out-fall is on the drivers side approx 3/4" OD, 3/8" ID rubber hose with spring clasp clamp -- EASY to see and access! 3.) Disconnect the hose and attach an extension line to a translucent 1gal jug in an catch pan (for overflow/spills). 4.) The steel return line may drip into a second catch pan. 5.) Snuggly attach a clear extension line to the dip-stick tube with a funnel. (I inserted a clear plastic kitchen "baster" keeping the refill level from overflowing at top of the "baster"/funnel). 6.) Start the engine and put in gear (automatic) until approx 1/2 gal OLD is collected and turn off engine. 7.) Fill approx 1/2 gal NEW. 8.) Repeat for approx 2 1/2 gals until bright pink is dispensing. 9.) Reattach radiator/trans Return line. 10.) Adjust fluid level to the low side of the "Cold" mark on dip-stick (so you can top-off to the Hot mark). 11.) Drive vehicle until transmission is up to approx 115 deg. F and adjust fluid level to "Hot" mark. 12.) Reattach the plastic shield using new plastic push-pins. 13.) This should replace the Trans, Torque Converter, and Radiator Cooler with ALL New Fluid. NOTE: For Sealed transmissions attach an extension line with funnel to the steel Return line (instead of the non-existent "dip-stick tube"). Happy motoring!

Epic, I'll pay the Lexus dealer for that service. My 2017 IS300 awd F sport is at 59,300 miles so I want to have the transmission oil flushed. The dealer is not dropping the pan and changing the filter, they just flush the oil. They quoted $200 to do it, I failed to ask if that was labor and materials. I'll DYI the brake fluid flush, spark plug change, cabin filter, air intake filter, maf clean, oil and oil filter myself. Also ordered RC-F control arm bushings, hopefully I'll have them soon, really want to replace the squishy bushing that destroy my front tires.

Yes and yes! When I got the car in 2017, they had Michelin sticky summer tires that lasted one summer and were $400 each. I did a little research and grabbed these. They are great all season performance tires. They used to have an 80k tread life warranty and would be cooked between 20K and 40K. When I would go to Discount Tire. I could replace all four for under $300.

Yes they are Contintental DWS 06 Plus. I have had these tires on the car for the last seven years. They are great all weather tires that have good grip and some longevity. @cpfb68
@cpfb68 11 ай бұрын
If you have a constant low rad fluid that you refill every 2-3 days, you can crawl under the car and look around the trans bell housing for the signature pink dribbles of coolant. Thats a VPL sign. If your coolant level isn’t changing and you have Bubbles in the coolant tank makes me think it’s something other than a VPL. It’s very rare but a head gasket leak? Exhaust backing up into the coolant creating bubbles. If not that, I’m not sure. Possibly something wrong with the water pump inducing air into the coolant. You need to get it checked by a good mechanic that knows the IS F. Good luck!

If you’re adding coolant and loosing it over a few days with no leak then most likely it is the VPL. To confirm, go under the car and look at both sides of the transmission, bell housing for any long streaks of pink coolant. Otherwise take it to a good mechanic to confirm.

I completely agree! For the cost of a 1/2 bottle of WS fluid, you can get the measurement right on the money when draining. I was initially trying to drain and fill with exact amount not accounting for anyone previously doing a service and possibly wrong not putting enough fluid in. Now when I do a minor service, I measure out what I got and add a qt. and see when I open the measurement plug that I get a steady stream coming out.

I did my first full service (pull pan and screen, 6+ qts) at the 60K major service (plugs, rear diff fluid, brake fluid, major trans service, coolant if you want). I then followed up with three minor services (pull drain plugs and refill, about 3qts) at 1K miles after the major. This helps to keep a lot of the particles that are suspended in the fluid and helping the clutch packs to engage to stay in the system but still lets you get fresh fluid for longevity. Like you I have done this on many old cars and it is always a messy job 😊…believe it or not my old Pontiac Sunfire with “sealed” transmission used a similar method with two noticeably easier steps. 1) it had a fill cap with a beefy o-ring. Cap was located at the top of the transmission so it was easy to use a funnel to refill. 2) it only called for “normal operating” temperature and drain excess fluid from check plug while idling in park…very similar.
