Thanks! The horn did sound strikingly similar to that of the Riverline, which is funny to hear on heavy rail locomotives. This was taken in Pitman, NJ, at Holly Ave.

@ It was off the road going through the old Anchor glass plant in Salem. The address says it’s number 214 on that road. I have pictures of it sitting in the abandoned field.

I don't believe it has turned a wheel under its own power in years. It's been stored in Salem and near the glass plant for as long as I can recall. I have heard that there may be potential plans in the future for the locomotive with its private owner.

Number 9 looks great they did a great job with her! I had no idea there was a steam engine in New Jersey! This shows how much people put there efforts in restoring steam engines and giving them a second chance in preservation! Also I love her whistle! ❤

That SRNJ geep MIGHT need a new paint job. . . It's nice to see this 0-6-0 in action again. I'm not sure why, but the U.S. Army seems to have ordered steam engines that always looked, at least the ones I'VE seen, a bit awkward. In this case, number 9's smokebox door isn't centered, and I wonder why the Army would have ordered it and the others of its class to be designed and built that way. . .

I actually have a model of an engine very similar to SMS #9. Mine is a Proto 2000 USRA 0-6-0 lettered for the Seaboard Air Line railroad as engine 1094.

@@rudycarlson8245 that is a great question! From my understanding, the three railroads used their own locomotives for better control during the move. It was also the safest means of transport for the 9.

@@suriyaprakasharumugam1782 back in November 2023, the FRA gave Woodstown Central #9 the greenlight to return to steam. The following year, she will be unveiled for steam service on the Woodstown Central Railroad. The Woodstown Central Railroad isn't really old, it opened in 2022.

I used to grow up and take 4 axle EMD Geeps for granted. Not anymore. These locomotives can last a century with the right maintenance. Pretty much like a b-52.
