Feels weird seeing 9 being towed by those two NS diesels but knowing that’s it’s been moved to its new home is what’s exciting!

Very nice! Apart from the 0-6-0 under steam, it's neat to see that SRNJ GP9 and some of the older crossing signals they have.

The grand return of Woodstown Central #9. Its moved in preparation for November 30th unveiling on the Woodstown Central Railroad. SMS Lines did an epic job restoring this steam locomotive.

Wonderful to see steam return to South Jersey. I grew up near the Pennsylvania-Reading Seashore Lines during the transition era and have been a lifelong fan.

@@suriyaprakasharumugam1782 back in November 2023, the FRA gave Woodstown Central #9 the greenlight to return to steam. The following year, she will be unveiled for steam service on the Woodstown Central Railroad. The Woodstown Central Railroad isn't really old, it opened in 2022.

@@rabie95 Per the Woodstown Central, it will begin pulling public passenger trains on their line starting November 30th.

@@CSAORailfan why did it have to be towed to a certain point when it’s clearly able to move by itself?
@Aiden-Plays-Games1Ай бұрын
@@rudycarlson8245 #9 had to go on different railroads to get to woodstown central. That's why you see different diesels.
@CSAORailfanАй бұрын
@@rudycarlson8245 that is a great question! From my understanding, the three railroads used their own locomotives for better control during the move. It was also the safest means of transport for the 9.

@@CSAORailfan I am very happy. They left number nine coal burning! instead of converting it to oil!

I actually have a model of an engine very similar to SMS #9. Mine is a Proto 2000 USRA 0-6-0 lettered for the Seaboard Air Line railroad as engine 1094.

Why was it towed?
@ericemmons304024 күн бұрын
That SRNJ geep MIGHT need a new paint job. . . It's nice to see this 0-6-0 in action again. I'm not sure why, but the U.S. Army seems to have ordered steam engines that always looked, at least the ones I'VE seen, a bit awkward. In this case, number 9's smokebox door isn't centered, and I wonder why the Army would have ordered it and the others of its class to be designed and built that way. . .
