I had a friend save all their 3 gal kitty litter buckets. They aren't as bulky as a 5 gal, they are square so go on the shelf without wasted space like round ones, they have lids and handles. I label them with a Sharpie marker on the side with no printing. Free and so convenient for everything, including carrying around.

DON'T fall for this or buy Greenstalks! They don't even know what the word RESERVOIR means!!! It doesn't hold ANY water. It's NOT a reservoir. At best, its a giant funnel! You'll never be able to to not be there to water your plants EVERY DAY in the hot summer, like you could with even a simple olla system. Get a much less expensive vertical planter and then put a solar powered drip feeder on it and save a TON of money over the over priced GreenStalk. BTW, after pressing them they ADMIT that the "reservoir" doesn't hold any water. Maybe they need to look up the definition in the dictionary and not false advertise and name their products.

This is the first year I did not get any germination from my lettuce and spinach. We had so much rain since March. I normally for the last two years I been planting my seeds for spinach and lettuce in the middle March. Because the gardener on KZbin said to do this and it worked. But this year it did not work

A found a way that works for me dealing with animals eating the fruits of our labor. I feed them. i have a juicer and put cucumber, carrot and green apple peels out for them after I cut them up a bit. They are scraps that i either put in compost or throw down the disposal. The pulp i put in compost anyway so the peels can go to feed the animals. Then they are full from the scraps and have no need to go in my garden to pick away or ruin a tomato with one bite. I discovered indeed you do catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar. Some would argue that it will attract more animals. This is not true. You see, animals are territorial and therefore, only certain numbers of a certain species make residence in backyards until they lose a battle with another, like lions in a pride. The birds, rabbits, squirrels, crows all know who I am because they are safe in my backyard. The birds sing when i come out and poke around in the garden then dive in when I walk away looking for worms or little bits of fruit i drop. The rabbits come and sit under my chair and gather around me when i am sitting out enjoying a nice summer evening. I found that in giving back to nature, with more than just tossing food out randomly with no love and wisdom pervading it, that each time i go out and offer them veggie peels with a feeling of gratitude for their existence that a coexistence can truly exist on a whole other level that we have yet to realize and discover.

Learn the relationship between the planetary bodies and our organs and their relationship with minerals. Each organ is the manifestation of a planetary body and has a relationship with a particular mineral. And when a planet is close to earth the mineral in question has a certain impulse which takes place inwardly with a like organ. As above, so below. What happens in the macrocosm, happens on microcosm.

I've been growing my own food for over 50 years. I have used sprinklers, ollas, soaker hose, and tons of hand watering but have yet to build a drip system because it just seems so complicated because of all the different components but I am planning on trying it. I really love the grid system you have in your raised beds. Thank you for doing this series. Though I'm not a beginner, by any means, I thoroughly enjoy them & love seeing young people keeping the craft alive. 👍💯❤

LOVE LISA! Check out her channel folks. I let flowers self seed in the garden and spread seeds and plant transplants everywhere. It’s gorgeous AND I’m hoping to attract parasitoid wasps to help me combat all the pests. I’ve also started diversifying vegetable planting, spreading them across the space to prevent monoculture issues. Sprinkle sweet alyssum around the perimeter of every bed for all season blooms and tiny flowers that attract a ton of smaller pollinators and predators.

Depends on your variety of basil. I grow a variety that specifically for the flowers, which are more potent than the leaves and produce more biomass but are more difficult to process. Since I'm not producing them for a corporate kitchen it's not a problem.

Where your placing you bed dig a foot down then fill that hole with your twigs wood chip logs then put your ground soil on top. If you have grass I dug square slods piled them up jango style to air but covered in the dry spell the grass died and i then crumbed the squares grass free

Add Choppee to your Burmese list. These are my two favorite ones. They don’t grow too tall and the pods can go longer and stay tender more than other varieties. Choppee has no ribs so you can squeeze more into a jar if pickling.

Thank you for this information. Have you tried Health Kick? It’s a nice compact plant that provides tons of firm, meaty, large Romas and has extra lycopene. Also I add crushed egg shells to each tomato plant when planting to thwart blossom end rot. That might help you too. Not enough calcium in the soil can cause it.
