On the AR-15 rifle the magazine feed lips contact the upper receiver which functions as an excellent over insertion stop.

Mbt2s are decent for the price but they arent Geiselle triggers. Having shot quite a few of both I’d take the holiday sale SSA-E for $149 over a mbt2s. If there’s was no sale and I was on a tighter budget the larue would be ok.

I think that mk20 would have been better if it was a regular squared off full length handguard instead of that weird angled cut end.

I think that mk20 would have been better for a lightweight handguard if it was a regular squared off full length handguard instead of that weird angled cut end. It’s just so aesthetically disgusting looking with that slant.

I'll be honest, I know that cantilever mount is not the strongest in the world, but the benefits in form and function to me outweigh the unlikely case of a direct drop onto steel that might bend it and break the glass. I'd rather carry a basic tool kit and the other mount to swap it out when I can if that were to happen than run the other one and lose the comfort. Yes I get that it would happen at the worst possible time due to Murphy, but I'll chance it.

Why not use a MR556 and swap the handguard? That way you get the real deal, a cold hammer forged accurate barrel and proper parts precision made from purpose engineered materials with HK durable coatings and heat treatments. Instead of a cheap knock-off, that probably doesn't last long? I have a BRN-4 lower receiver from Brownells, it did not fit an original HK416 upper very well, too much wobble, was disappointed in the quality.

The knock-off tourniquets are a major issue... I've seen a ton of them on people's kits, and some look pretty convincing. My buddies and I actually bought a few just to test. Part of our goal was to prove knock-offs can' t be trusted, but also we wanted to ensure our test process worked so that we could test any TQs we bought in the future, because so many are convincing looking. We ended up taking the TQs to the gym and wrapping them around the handlebars of a fly (peck deck) machine, and slowly increasing the resistance and then turning the windlass a bit to see if it can handle the stress. A normal CAT tourniquet can handle approximately twice the pressure of the convincing knock-off models. The primary point of failure on both was the locking mechanism for the windlass (the rib-shaped enclosure where you rest the windlass when under tension) The ribs bend and break under enough pressure, but the legit CAT models can handle twice as much pressure. More than enough to stop severe bleeding on a muscular guy's thigh, which from my experience in combat was the hardest place to apply a TQ. There are some TQs on the market that have "questionable" sourcing with a metal windlass. Some of them are good, but some are not because there's also knock-offs available on Chinesium dealer sites. But the good ones don't have proper branding on them to help the buyer identify when they're legit, and one dealer of the good model actually ended up being shipped knock-offs that his supplier thought were "just as good" and could make him more profits. They had a recall on them and sued the supplier, which is ongoing and I don't know the details of. But the alleged benefit of the metal windlass was supposed to be for high-heat situations where a plastic windlass may have been compromised by heat. That's a fine idea, except the plastic windlass is about as thick as my pinky finger and the first failure point is ALWAYS the locking mechanism, not the windlass. Even on the models with the metal windlass the locking mechanism is still plastic, so it doesn't matter. Until the metal windlass manufacturer figures out their branding problem to help defeat the knock-offs of his product, I would avoid them. If they do figure that out and they begin to gain a real following, I expect TQ prices to drop because currently the $25-$30 per unit price is due to the fact that legit branded CAT products is really the only game in town. Every single decent supplier is trying to buy legit CAT products from the original CAT manufacturer, along with every single emergency agency in existence and the military. That keeps CAT items at a higher than normal price range until someone actually goes enter the ring with a good alternative that can't be so easily undermined by knock-offs.

I own an EPL4 6-24x50 FFP MOA. I am a fan of Cyclops Joe and other KZbinrs for their valuable insights. They have saved me a lot of money and frustration. Look it takes time and money to produce these videos and YT is not very keen to monetize anything having to do with firearms. So very often these guys use their own money to acquire these scopes. I am not against Arken or any other company providing their products for honest reviews, repeat "honest" reviews. Joe to his credit is honest, others not so much. And it is easy to tell. I also own scopes from Vortex, Tract, Leupold, Primary Arms, Athlon, and recently Discovery. I purchased the Arken because it was FFP, had 24x magnification, Japanese glass, a preferred reticle style, illumination, and most importantly light weight. All that I consider to be positives for a relative budget optic. WIth scopes you get what you pay for. The only negative, and deal breaker, for me is the zero stop. The elevation turret uses 5 set screws that are adjusted with an Allen key. The design is simple but flawed in that the screws come loose and must be tightened down frequently. Then I lose zero. This means I carry the Allen key with me to the range. Wait! Where I put that GD thing? No I don't torque the crap out of them but I do snug them and they still come loose. Then someone suggests using loctite. No I don't want to do that either. I don't have this issue with any other scope I own and I won't be buying another Arken until they change the design. It's a shame because otherwise it is a very good scope for the money.
