6:30 here did you mean that what they wrote in the experience part should match their skills? I also want to ask if I don't have any working experience yet how can I showcase my skills and make everything coherent?
@headlessheadhunter
@headlessheadhunter 7 күн бұрын
The biggest issue is the skills that are required by the job were not in the resume. All the experience they wrote, is not related to the qualifications that recruiters need to move them forward. In regards to showcasing skills if you don't have any work experience than you would put school projects as if you were writing them as work experience.

Corporate HR is so terrible at hiring engineers it's a joke. I tossed my engineering degree in the trash as it's a dead profession thanks to how badly corporations are at hiring and retaining engineers. When the C student who flunked out of engineering gets an MBA after drinking and partying for four years and becomes the boss of the much smarter and harder working engineers, it's not a viable choice for career, is it? I would strongly discourage any American students from entering engineering. You'll make more , and work much much less being the boss. And you probably have more education to be admitted to engineering than the MBA needed to graduate.

Have you any views on microphones and sound levels?
@headlessheadhunter

I am still trying to work out how to get the sound levels equal, I have a mic but I don't think I am using it right. Honestly would like some help as sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't so that implies a user error, I just don't know what im doing wrong lol.

Some interesting information: - If the favor is in the employer's side, they get to be more picky with their candidates => longer interview procedure and vice versa. They prefer hiring no one than an ill-suited candidate for the position - ATS rejecting resume is a myth - The majority of applied candidates may not even meet all the requirements, yet they still submit their CV anyway My question is that if I meet all of the requirements except for the experience years (example: asking for at least 1 year experience when I'm just a fresh graduate), should I still apply for the position? Also how long should I contact the HR asking for the position status (hired or not) after submitting my CV?
@headlessheadhunter
@headlessheadhunter 11 күн бұрын
If your around 1 year off, you should be ok. It lessens your chances of getting an interview but theirs still a chance. Typically I would wait 3 to 5 business days before contacting the recruiter (HR doesn't usually handle recruitment in bigger companies, even though recruiting is under their division). Make sure you find the req number (if it exists) so the recruiter can find the position quicker. Req numbers are the big random numbers and letters sometimes found in Job Descriptions. That is how we keep them organized in the ATS, although not all req numbers are public.

"It doesnt spell out in bright shiny letters that you are a devops" Holy shit, recruiters are for real the cancer of this industry. Every word from that cv make a huge poster saying DEVOPS
@headlessheadhunter
@headlessheadhunter 12 күн бұрын
It makes sense to Dev Ops people, but not to non-technical people which is the issue with a lot of resumes. I am not saying it's right that the world works this way, but that is how it works.
@surgingtides
@surgingtides 16 күн бұрын
My takeaways from the video: - at the end of the day it's the recruiter who gets to decide whether your CV passed or not - most of the time the recruiters/HR is non-technical, so you need to write and present your CV as digestible as possible so they can still see you are the fitting candidate => using keywords from JD - customize CV by Job Title because regardless of the company you are going to apply to, most JD of the same Job Title will have a lot in common Thank you for this video ❤

Curious why you scan for frontend stuff for a backend position?
@headlessheadhunter
@headlessheadhunter 17 күн бұрын
Full stack is hot right now, so some of the front end stuff like Typescript/JavaScript/etc can be useful. Some fullstack jobs are 50/50 split while others are mostly back end with a sprinkle of front end. I will admit it's not 100% necessary and not all back end engineers should/could put those keywords in, but it could open a few doors that otherwise would have been closed.

Wow. I watched 1 min, and this guy compared software engineering, where many, many devs have decided to skip college and just self teach… to nursing ? How would you like a nurse who took a three month course from Bootcamp?! Please stop riding coattails and get your own ideas.

LinkedIn matters in a better job market. That is where Agency Recruiters are most likely to find a candidate. But you don't need to stress to hard about it if it's not great, your resume is the prime reason you will get hired.

Hi, thank you. Yeah I currently don’t have much experience and the jobs were short internships So idk what to put in the gap This job market is brutal so that’s why I wanted to apply to different positions. To get my foot in the door

If you stop by my livestream I might be able to help you more. The biggest thing is each job title is going to require different keywords. You can also put some of your school projects in, instead of work experience. Truthfully, getting your foot in the door is the hardest part of any industry, after that it gets easier.

I just applied to a few of their jobs out in SF, really hoping to hear back. They seem like a really good company to career with, however i have my reservations about the fact that i cant find a ton of info online about them. But seems straight forward and i meet their experience requirments.
